Unhappy Lost Key

I just lost one of my car keys today and was wondering if the 2006 Cobalt SS/SC has a chip in the key or can I get one made anywhere?

when i picked my car up it had a white tag on the key ring with an id number...just take that to the dealer and they'll cut you a new key...if you dont have that...

i don't think the have a chip in them.. i used to work for a locksmith and i looked up the key blank and i was able to get them... and it had a P next to it for Plastic head.. and if i was able to get them then there must not be a chip in it.. that i know of.

yes they do because when i bought my car i got 2 keys, one would work and one would not, it would turn in the ignition but the car would not start, they just did a quick trick to program it and it works

The keys do have chips. The blank is pretty expensive, i think it is like $40. They charge like $75 or so to reprogram the key, but you can do it yourself. I don't remember the exact proceedure, but as long as you have one original key that works you can program a new key. I think the proceedure for programming the key is here on this site, just do a search for it.
