Lost Key
i dont think the keys are chipped but i might be wrong...i got one made for my trailblazer (key looked the same) for like 20 bux and my friend got a cheap spare key for his 03 silverado made at the hardware store...maybe the cobalt is different
i don't think the have a chip in them.. i used to work for a locksmith and i looked up the key blank and i was able to get them... and it had a P next to it for Plastic head.. and if i was able to get them then there must not be a chip in it.. that i know of.
yes they do because when i bought my car i got 2 keys, one would work and one would not, it would turn in the ignition but the car would not start, they just did a quick trick to program it and it works
The keys do have chips. The blank is pretty expensive, i think it is like $40. They charge like $75 or so to reprogram the key, but you can do it yourself. I don't remember the exact proceedure, but as long as you have one original key that works you can program a new key. I think the proceedure for programming the key is here on this site, just do a search for it.
