Much easier to make hp. I maybe have 2k into upgrades and make just over 400hp at the crank on E-85. Good tunes and your BPU's and youll have a sleeper. But they are more expensive initially.
Unfortunately my budget would depend upon how much I get the car for and I haven't found any LNF's for a good price yet. But I cant wait iv got time.

yeah with a tune and the mods in my sig I made 320 whp 420 wtq. If i went E85 I could be 20 to 30 whp higher.

You can also buy bolt on turbo's to bring you close to 400 whp without sacraficing issues with pushing the stock turbo so hard.

BNR gt2871 1200 with k04 core
s20g is 1100
ZFR aka EFR 6758 is 1800
K04+ is 1200
Werks WR2 is 1400

All bolt on with stock manifold

if you are going to school for auto, I advise you get an lsj under 100k miles. you will have fun doing projects on it.

You'll be more than happy with a fully bolted and tuned LNF making over 300whp if you've never owned a 200whp car before. If you still want more power after that, get a bigger turbo for it. If you want to make big power off the bat (500-600) get an LSJ and turbo it.

Buy this and drop in a new engine for either 3k for a complete one or 1.5k for a shortblock.

not better then Recaros OP get the LNF for your goals. The LSJ can get there, it just takes a decent investment (ask me how I know). Either way wait and get a good one dont settle. There are still unmolested ones available you just have to look.

LNF seats are more comfortable, yet maintain solid support. They just require a little modification(SS/SC heated seat elements).

If this is a DD with a 40 mile commute, I'd get an LSJ or LNF and leave it alone, maybe some light modding.

I suppose everyone has their own opinion! The recaros were comfortable enough for a cross country trip

And they hold up 10x better than the regular seats. Never seen a Cobalt seat that didn't have a collapsed seat cushion.

Either way you will be better off with a HP tuners tune versus trifecta... Just have the right person tune you.

Mine are looking perfect at 17k, and that's all that matters to me.

Need to go for a ride in both cars see where your heart lies borh cars are good if you have never heard a stage 2+ lsj screaming @7k its really sweet and if youve never felt how hard an e85 fbo tc will pull then itl make You giggle plus itl break loose in third at 60 with skreet tires
I have nearly the same goals as you and choose the tc it was where my heart landed love the interior brakes and the fact mine still had warranty which you will find some tcs with a decent chunk of warranty left and it gets a little better mpg for your commute

Anyone know a good price that I should be looking for a LNF cobalt or LSJ cobalt? Just so i know what to look for.

Also would it be worth looking at a Saturn ion redline for the LSJ?

You should be able to get find a decent low mile lnf for less than 13k
Irl's are cool too they have some proprietary parts that are a little harder to find on the 04 and 05 I believe and the cars themselves are a little harder to find

Depends on the mileage, what's your budget?

The only reason people buy ss sc's is because they can't afford a ss tc. Should give you more insight into which car is truly "better"

You will be buying an ss sc at that price, or a high mileage ss tc (wouldn't recomend).

If you can save and get a solid $10k you could get a decent miles tc.

For 8k you can find an LSJ under 100k.
