From LT to SS
From LT to SS
I'm happy with the LT as a DD. It could be a bit more powerful and handle better. I have a sedan.
I love the look of SS/Sport.
There are some 08 Sport available at the dealership. 08 Sport only comes in 2.4L.
09 SS is turbo. Yes, I know I can test drive both (I think - not sure if 09s are here).
But I'm wondering if the 08 Sport will make me want more. I think that will be enough to make me "happy." Want vs Need.
Is 09 SS Turbo the only way to go? Is the turbo THAT much better? Once you go SS turbo, you'll never go back?

get the turbo. not a whole lot of difference between the 2.2 and 2.4, but you get the 2.0 and it's a whole new ballgame. i went from my 2.2 for 2 years, to getting the 2.0, and it's not the same car. everything about it is different, and it's well worth it. getting the turbo will be even better.
get the lnf.. unless you want to do the work yourself then go 2.4.... there's alot of difference between the 2.2 and 2.4... like forged components in the 2.4 vvt and a totally different head design. as well as tuning..
the ss/tcs are awesome cars though.. and well worth the money

when you own a 2.2, and drive a 2.4, it's more like "wow, this is cool". when you own a 2.2 and drive a 2.0 it's more like "holy ****, that's ******* nuts"
after driving my 2.2 for 2 years, i went to that gm auto-x even and drove the 2.4, and honestly didn't feel that much of a difference taking it around the track. i thought there would have been a much bigger difference than there was.
but not like the difference between the 2.2 and 2.0 is what i meant to say.

i remember driving in a stock 2.0 and not being impressed at all, not sure if it was the driver or just the fact that it was stock. but coming from the 2.2 anything is fast
If you like the look of the SS fascias I believe the 09 LT has the 2.2 VVT engine but the "Sport" body and fascias. I've seen 2 of them and they are pictured on several Chevy websites now. Threw me off the first time I saw a rental 09 silver LT with SS fascia and 17" wheels....
:
haha...yeah I use to own a 2.2 also.....there was a huge difference when switch to the 2.0...didnt even feel like I was driving the same car....the OP get the ss/tc if you can affod it...at least test drive it...you'll be happy you did and also the 09 are available.
maybe it's because i bought my car with a 2.9" pully and tune, so it was a rediculous difference for me when i traded. close to twice the power.

seriously my car felt like it had more push back in your seat feeling but i think ijust had high expectations
i'm sure if i got in a modded 2.0 against my modded 2.4 i would've felt the same way as you ... i know from getting a rental 2.2 auto ion that it was painful to accelerate lol and it made my car feel like a super car afterwards lol i guess i just expected more of that lol
Test drive both the dealer will let you do what ever tell them you are undecided between the 2 and want to test drive both of them. Remeber that when you go buy a vehicel you are the one in charge not the dealer.
Follow up.
For those who step up from LS/LT to SS (SC/TC), how much difference is insurance?
I know we are all different. So I would like to know the difference.
Example:
Was $100 with LS
Now $120 with SS

'08-'09 Sport (2.4 SS on 06-07), LE5 = 173hp
'08-'09 SS/TC, LNF = 265hp
Almost 100 more hp, so obviously the SS/TC's are much quicker.
Even with my full exhaust, CAI and being HP Tuners tuned, an SS/TC would still rape me I'm sure.

07 ss/sc now 58 a month
I'm 29 through progressive 6month policy, no tickets.
It really didnt go up that much, but age, tickets are obviously a factor, best thing to do is just call your insurance and ask, it only takes a few mins to find out what'll it cost you.
