HackAbuse is requiring that all vehicles manufactured with stability control have a toggle switch to optionally deactivate this feature

By 2020 all vehicles will have no fun factor left in them and will be worthless to try and drive if this crap keeps up!

All cars will have it but it will be like every other recent GM model that already has it, theres a button that turns it on or off like my old mans 2005 Malibu. At first I thought his LTZ had no power until I noticed that button, whole other beast now. I kinda wish I had traction control for winter snow storms.

So all cars are required to have seatbelts and that hasn't stoped anyones fun. The more safty features you can add that help reduce your risk of a roll over or accident is a huge +
I see nothing wrong with this at all and I an't believe how anyone would.

lol because depending on the driver it could be good or bad... some people learned to drive manual and use it well to their advantage.. some could say manuals arent as safe as autos because you must think more... in that situation the driver may be safer in a manual... same thing with stablity control or whatever. if you know how to drive your car well and know its limits you shouldnt need stablity control. im pretty sure most driver caused crashes are because of people were driving beond their limits or their cars limits

Stability control isn't going to limit how hard you can drive the car. Look at the new Corvettes, they have a stability control and every car mag that tested it says that it only takes over when your so close to losing control that only professional drivers could pull it back out by themselves. I understand your afraid it will be like big brother but so far the systems that are out right now are nothing like that. Think of it as an "oh ****!" detector.
By the time your sideways and heading for the gaurdrail and scream "Oh ****!" thats when it takes over to pull your bacon out of the fire.

IMO I think its great! Even if you are a professional stunt driver situations do arise that can cause you to lose control this is there to help you regain control and not need to go to the hospital.

I say bring it on! If you can't take a corner as fast you you used to but that means that countless others will be kept safe then I say its a very worthy trade off.

No, it will engage every time you attempt to spin.

Huh, really? It doesn't in the Vette.

Well I guess we'll have to wait and see what it actualy is when it comes out. I mean no sence in getting upset over something that isn't even out yet. LOL!

rather than teach people how to drive properly, the government has decided to try and idiot-proof cars.
b-r-i-l-l-i-a-n-t!
(Sarcasm, kids)

pardon me for seeming old fashioned, but i don't want a computer deciding that I am going too fast... or i'm not using enough brake... or i'm doing what-the-****-ever wrong...

What does an aneurism feel like?

Traction control will, but this is about stability control, which is a whole other big brother. Where traction control only monitors wheel spin (generall through the ABS sensors), stability control monitors the direction of your car in relation to where the tires are pointed and takes steps to correct it. (it fixes oversteer and understeer) Different cars will have it come on at different times.

Sometimes basic traction control is built in, but I don't think that is the idea of this mandate. You can still do serious burn-outs in some sports cars with stability control.

Here's some info -

Traction control on most cars is a gimmick.

Both of my LS1 Camaro SS's and my 1996 Formula had the traction control option. On the cars it smoothly changes engine timing and actually pushes the accelerator pedal up and makes it harder to push. I would call this functional and real traction control.

Most other traction control systems like some of Fords just suddenly cut engine power and thats it. Some GM cars just up shift into the next gear and cut power. I call these POS traction controls.

And then we get into anti abuse controls like the one in the 05-06 Mustang GT and the system in the 06 GTO that will not allow you " power brake " or "power stand " the car.
These are the systems people who buy a sports car can live without.

Most likely, the manufacturer's will put in a switch to "deactivate" this feature. But when you think that by hitting the switch completely "deactivates" it, you are mistaken. The manufacturer usually uses this setting as a limited activation and is not actually off.

A full system that may prevent complete loss of control is good.

But has anyone stepped back and thought maybe some people need to quit being dumbasses and learn how to really drive?

I see people eating while driving, taliking on there phones and other neat things.

People complain about street racing but don't care about these issues?

It's a damn shame how many people die in these large man made machines due to stupidity.

One thing that makes me stand back and laugh is this:

A while back GM had a test fleet of cars that would follow magnets inbeded in a certain roadway and would then " drive " itself.

During testing 98% of the people were afraid to let go of the wheel.

Yet these same stupid fat asses will drive and eat or drive and talk on a cell phone using one hand.
