Master cylinder Question...

What is the thingy that stands behind the filler cap?It looks like a vent or something?Shouldn't it be capped due to humidity getting into the brake fluid?Will try and post a pic.

That's a closed port. It actually doesn't go through into the resevoir. I asked the same question myself when I first saw it.

Its probably for some other application or just a part of the molding process.
