The recommended pressure is 32 psi. I would only increase from that pressure by a few pounds as stated above.

I run 35. there isn't much benefit going above 32 really.

if you want fuel economy take off the intake muffler thing. thats an easy 2-3 mpg.

if you take off the inner fender well on the passenger side there is a long horn shaped thing with 2 big boxes to act as sound baffles. the lower one is also to help keep water from coming into the intake, but unless your driving through 2 feet of water its not much of an issue anyways.

its a 20 minute job to take off, I'm sure someone here has done a write up on it, if they haven't someone should have.

i live in florida. it rains a lot. not sure if taking the baffles off the intake is going to be worth anything on fuel milage versus the potential to bring water up in the intake.

btw, you feel there is a gain with pulling any "restriction" out of the intake box when we are dealing with a 2.2L n/a motor? i am looking for efficiency not peak hp.

An intake, header, and exhaust package will not only make your 2.2 faster and better sounding... but it will increase your fuel mileage as well.

You won't gain enough mileage out of the parts to make up their cost... but if you were gonna mod anyways there's another reason to add to the list.

I'm getting ~26MPG on my Stage 2 SS/SC on an all city commute where my speeds range from a 20MPH crawl to 65MPH.

Can't believe they stuffed this thing in the inner fender well.

I replaced it with this.

if you wanted to, you could drop your speed down to like 65 that would help out a bit,
remember best speed for fuel economy is 55mph, so the faster you go over 55 the less mileage youre gonna get

i am not interested in modding for power(sorry fellas i know most are here for that). i also like my car to be quiet. i have a 99TA that i take out and beat on. was just wondering about fuel economy. i wish i could go 65-60 mph but in FL on the interstate where the limit is 70 and most are going 80+ that is a rescipe for death lol. i have noticed on a few roads that are that speed, my economy is crazy high. like 37-38 mpg.

speed plays a factor but gear ratio would ultimately dictate where your car is in regards to rpm with the current gear. To add to that wheel weight and tire pressure would play on this as well.

where in florida?

if you're looking for real bang for your buck, get taller tires and lighter wheels. it'll help a few.

go the speedlimit. use the A/C on 45+MPH roads and use windows on <45MPH roads.

Lowering your car will also help your fuel economy, although only the tiniest of bits. At least your car will look better, too.

I saw about 2-3 mpg increase removing the intake thing, and it seriously won't be an issue with water unless you go through about 2 1/2 feet of standing water(with or without the piece you have bigger problems at that point). the inlet will actually be moved up about a foot higher, it will be at the bottom of your air filter box, you will suck in a little hot air which will help with fuel economy a slight bit. water will seriously not be an issue, the cabin will flood before the intake will be an issue. you will be safe.

I went with the gmpp touring exhaust, I got 3mpg out of it, but at $500 it will take me a long long time to see a return on that investment, probably not a good bet for you.

I'm going to get some flexiable rubber aviation hose and reduct the intake from the throttle body to the air box to see if i can get some gains there, I'll post my findings.
