More weight removal

What if I were able to remove 900 pounds from the balt? Is it possible? What could I aim at to achieve that, including the seats and whatnot. I dont mean personal items, things that are stock to the car. And what would I gain from it?

Not a how-to, moved to general.

I suppose if you removed every single interior piece, sat on a bucket, took off all the doors, the hood, the deck lid, stripped the paint, used a 5 gallon can for a fuel cell, cut off the exhaust, and took all of the fluid out of the windshield washer tank, you could lose 900 pounds.

Honestly, that is not a realistic number.

What weight savings does for you is obvious. The lighter the car, the better the HP to weight ratio. Basically, it can accelerate faster.

...Don't forget the facias and lights too. That's gotta be another 50 pounds at least!

Our stock 18's are reportedly 26lbs each...that would be a good place to start. That's a lot of weight and if you can eliminate some of the wheel weight, that should create a little easier/faster wheel rotation. It will/might be able to help with 60' times. Maybe even go to 17's. I like my rims and I'm just being stubborn buying some new ones as I can't find any that I like. Our stock ones are pretty sick and I don't want to drop to 17's as I've already lowered my car and don't want to make the wheel well gap look any bigger. I don't think I helped at all but I guess I'm just thinking through typing. My real advice...remove the entire body, air conditioning and that pesky steering wheel.

i dont think shaving 900 is actually possible, c-west has a completely stripped s200 and every single body panel, hood, trunk, door, and bumpers are carbon fiber and that only shaved 600lbs, stripping your int might help but unless its a track car its gonna suck riding around in a stripped out metal box, especially when your trien to go on a date

i think your best bet would be to go with light weight wheels, cf trunk and hood, ditch the wing cause you really dont need it, dry cell batter, ditch the spare tire and the subwoofer but your gonna want some comfort and remember if you strip your int your music is gonna sound like **** and road and exhaust noise is gonna be much louder than before

front seats weigh like 70-80 lbs between the two of them...they have a heavy metal frame to slide on....the rear seats weight probably 10-15 lbs....theyre completely fabric. removing the passenger seat would be a better place to start....

Most race cars don't manage to drop 900lbs. I think you'ld be stretched to drop 200lbs while still maintaining safety and civility. Also, keep in mind the your handling can be affected by where you remove your weight. Removing it all from the rear can make your car more prone to understeer.

Start with the wheels (I saw an article where a 2.0L Sentra cut nearly a second off it's 1/4 mile time just by replacing the 18" chrome wheels with a set of stockers). Then look to remove any spoilers. A carbon fiber hood will help. You can also look to getting rid of the seats and getting a pair of lightweight fixed racing seats (if you're the only one who drives it). Anything more than this and you'll start really affecting comfort and/or safety.
