motor replaced by Wal-Mart oil change.

Wal-Mart cross threaded the top of the canister and cut the o-ring. All the oil was gone in two days of light driving. Took it straight to the Dealer who took pictures and noted all the things wrong with the oil change. Notified Wal-Mart same day and 24 hours later they are sending a check for 5800.00 plus a rental car (Dodge Charger) for up to 15 days or more.
My car was a mid 2006 with the short warranty. The new motor will have the 100,000 mile warranty. I am having the stage 2 kit put on while the motor is out.
Looking for a upgrade clutch as well for basic street use.

gotta love big ol walmart.

buying you a new engine isnt a blip on their radar.
which means a smooth easy new engine for you.

kinda sucky that they fucked up your car for a while. but you should actually be glad it was walmart who fucked it up, they have so much money, they might accidentally buy you 2 new engines.

That's why I prefer do do my own oil changes, etc......too many times in the past has something been damaged.....paint scratches, bent trailing arm, wire harnesses not secured.

It is sad how many times I've heard this story. However, Wal-mart has done even worse. I had a customer with the same issue, and Wal-mart called up the oil filter supplier and told them either they could foot the bill for the new engine, or Wal-Mart would no longer be ordering filters from them. Lots of BS there.

Regardless- You took a specialty vehicle to walmart? WTF were you thinking?

Heard horror stories about Wal-mart car services. One of them was about a Cavalier that fell off the lift while it was in the air... Wonderful Wally World

I go to walmart to get my oil changed because its only $40-45 for a synthetic oil change. The other thieves (jiffy lube-dealer) want 70-90. Screw that, I just watch them every second they are near my car.

How the hell do you cross thread the filter cap?!? I just don't know how that is possible if you take any care at all. I think you would actually have to try to.

I have heard of that happening at dealerships as well. I have also heard stories of dealership car porters goofing around and putting a Vette into the wall of the wash rack.

Changing oil isn't rocket science, but people make mistakes no matter where they work. Personally I wouldn't take my car to walmart or even shop there because I don't care for the place. Even thought it is cheap you pay the price.

Thank you! yes, people make mistakes EVERYWHERE, not just walmart or jiffy lube for example. sometimes, **** happens and you aren't lucky enough to find out untill its too late.

well, they manned up and made a shitty situation good... new engine, free rental while the work is done, and a new warranty on top of it... glad to hear it worked out, and so quickly for ya... and, you're actually getting a decent rental car too... it's human nature to make mistakes, **** happens sometimes... but FIXING the mistake is what it's all about, and seems to be what they're doing.

Yeah, seriously... A girl I work with had her oil changed at a Sears autocenter and the engine blew up on the way home... they had never taken the old gasket off the engine... they told her it was her problem and hung up on her.

seriously.

I suppose if you get a new engine out of it not so bad. Still I wouldn't take my car to Wal-mart. Not so skilled techs there. I even heard around hear that one Walmart tech put windsheid washer in the Dex-cool, what idiots, My moto is you get what you pay for lol

save yourself a LOT of money, I have an engine with 7k from an 07 cobalt for sale, $1500. Not sure how much shipping would be, but you'd have a **** load leftover.
