So yesterday I was attempting a 0-60 on my 2.2 auto. She only went up to about 5k rpm. But when I see youtube vids of the same car specs. They manage to to get them scream at nearly 7k. Yes these are auto equipped 2.2's stock and untuned. Do I need to slam it to the metal to do this? Perhaps I baby her

Any idea what's the rev limit on a 2.2 LAP auto? I'm hopin to get her tuned soon to raise the limter a tad. Not that I wanna blow my engine just curious of how they do it untuned.

 

Rev limit is definitely not 7k.

Even on the SS's its limited to 6500 and 6350 respectably, must of had it upped by HP tuners.

Don't be afraid if it man you're not gonna break it. Especially as an auto it's hard to push the car past its limits.

I was always able to get my auto to shift at 6500.
The same with my LE5 (2.4) i have now. I had to pull out yesterday from a dead stop on a ramp. I had it to the floor and it shifted at 6500 for 1st, 2nd gears. That's with the 6 speed Auto.

I think youre using the wrong word. 6500rpm and screaming do not go together. at all.

I agree. 6500 for me is quiet. The engine is always quieter at any speed the blower motor is on speed 2. Was on the balt.

Now the GF screams sometimes. But not lately due to the Morning sickness that somedays is 24x7.

im debating 7k shift on the 1-2 shift

 

if you have the stage 2 on the S/C SS the rev limiter is bumped up to 7k. also idk how a 2.2L could "scream" without a super on there so i reckon you were watching vids of SS's or 2.2Ls with blowers lol
