My confessions.

Well my first car was a 1990 mercury topaz, fun indpndt rear...FOrd nuff said, 2nd car was a '91 Old Cutlass with a 3300 tourque monster. Really fun to drive sloppy box with systems and wire wheels. Dope. Tehn I got an Aveo 5 spd hatch. Really Really fun to drive. Car and Driver note "Best fit and Finish out of any GM vehicle" Sad being that its GM's cheapest car and also from korea rebadge Daewoo. BTW daewoo forums are stupider that J-body forums. I ogt a post that had an attempt to put an air compressor tank in the car because it hold 125 psi and they could boost. Don't respond to this fact cuz I already know about cfm's and everything. Its really funny. Then I traded that thang in after molesting it for a year for a 06 cobalt ls 5 spd. I GOT MY FIRST ECO-TEC! YEY! Iwas pumped, I raced everything. The main goal was to boost. Well I couldnt, So I got a J. Still addicted to teh ECO I got the GM supercharged "Bolt -on" Kit (My ass). Smoked everything around my way. Even some staged SS's. (Shutup and dont argue with these facts I am here and you are not) I can still remember the silent exhaust and hearing the motor at 10:1 under 10 psi. MMMMMMMMM. Well I sold the SC and then my third gear decided it was going to be a minority and not sync up anymore. So I traded that car that had been sodomized under the hood for an 03 civic LX auto power ac all that.

Ladies and gentleman this is a very very well put together car, very solid, aesthetically pleasing, solid solid solid car. Very fun to drive stock. Very relaxing, the interior materials are very accomodating, soft and stain proof (compared to the side panels in my ls cobalt) The guages are awesome. I have had this car for a few months. I got some SSR GT7H's (For Sale) and the honda's just look better than any compact that I have had. But I dont understand the hype for performance. Ya gotta swap or boost and then the drivetrains fail. I dont get it. But the options are there.

What I am getting at is that, I really really really miss my ECO's. All the yneeded was boost and they were good terrifyingly efficient to mods and scary fast when put together correct. But it's still the fact that GM sucks at bulding a good car. My local dealer had a full garage of C6's that couldnt start or move. Thats a shame for over $50k. ITs also a shame that gm cant make a good engine without blowing head gaskets or adopting another countries/companys design (ECO-TEC) (Swedish) (SAABISH) .

I really wish gm would jsut make something that was solid as a vehicle with the good power/drive plants that they have. MY cobalt sucked/squeeked and my friend SS's balt is falling apart. Just Jainky stuff man. But i really miss my ECO's

My plans are next year is to try the HHR Flatpanel or the Turbo. Hopefully it flat panel.

Much love for the ECO

I assume you mean the HHR....the SSR was the sad attempt at the retro pick up truck that they discontinued last/this year......but the turbo HHR should be pretty sweet if it makes it to the lots

hence the reason Chevy will be out of business in 5 to 10 years .... i have owned Chevy cars for 30 years (5 or 6 Suburbans, 2 cavies, 2 Ventures, 4 or 5 Pickups, 3 Cobalts, Camaro, Belair, Beauville ...

My kids (Twin girls 16) wanted a car so I found a Nissan with 200K on it real cheap but real clean one owner car. Everything feels strong and solid. No sqweaks and it goes.... It runs better and feels better than my 07 Balt SS with 1,000 Miles on it. I think the Balt was the last GM Vehicle i buy. It just doesn't seam to be worth it.

SSR is a brand of wheels that he has. SSR makes racing wheels for BMW. he did get teh s/c kit for his cavy, AFTER he sold his 06 LS 'balt.

and dude, you didnt smoke any "staged" SS. you pulled 1 carlength on my nearly bone stock SS/SC (intake only).

my point is, chevrolet is GM's entry level brand... a pontiac, or buick, or caddy is a nicer car.

Like I said i miss the power plants and almost all domestics are ****. Pure ****. All my friedns had domesics mostly chevy. And all my friends switched to Honda. Except for bika. But he is stuck with a junk ass SS. BTW Aveo has a daewoo power plant like I had said. But for all the people I have offended. I still stick up for the eco over a anything. I still point out htat the eco owns sport compacts and how all the top compact drags are running gm 4t60e GM trannys. So fall on an axe er something. I was hardcore GM for years. Then I woke up. The temporary bang for the buck GM has it down pat for someone taht wants a new car every year like I used to. But i needed something stable and reliable. Thats why i got out of my GM.

BTW, I was a stereo installer and Caddys are **** too. They are just put together shitty and materials are shitty. Everyone has pro's and con's Import have no *****, domestics have no quality. Nuff said.

I'm sorry, but I've seen plenty of beat to **** hondas out there. It depends on you and how you drive. Look at all the people who have problems with this and that on their cobalt, I totally believe its because they beat the **** out of their car. GM cars and trucks run 100,000 to 200,000 miles with maintenance checkups just like hondas if driven right.

clumsykx, you have to expect to get flamed for making comments like that on COBALTSS.NET atleast you give props to the powertrains

P.S. I wont ever be trading my "junk ass SS" or any other car for a Honda, ever. even though my car eats trannys and clutches and has various other problems, i still wouldnt trade it for any other 4cyl car... well maybe a new STi or EVO

Bika is my friedn and yes his car eats tranny and cltuches and proof of my pudding. Yes I can go get another cobalt new for $9500 after GM's 'bone me in the ass' rebates so my car is worth $2 for trade in 6 months later. Its funny how my car (honda) is worth more than what i bought it for from a retailer, but unfortunately got screwed on trade in cuz i bought a gm car. iwill probably buy anoter GM car it might be a truck because their powertrains can ha ndle more than imports, I would love to have a caprice with a 502 more than any other guy. But when I buy my Vette (40 years from now if gm isnt out of buisness) i will expect to have it i nthe garage at least once a year. My firend's dad's vette was out of toe from the factory. tie rods broke three times on my G-mas Buick. Her new imapla doesnt start half the time. My cobalts steering column blew out and my cavi's cltuch line exploded (under normal non boosted app). On top of that GM's representatives suck, their tech's are unmercifully stupid, and the sales people all have the same line "You gotta get out of that thing as soon as you can" YEAH CUZ ITS A GM! Depreciation machine.

Yes the SS is a very fast car for the money and yes the vette is awesome for the money. If you wanna put up with the horseshi that comes with it. And ya now what, I was thinking about getting back into a chevy, mainly for the eco. But the honda forums are much more inviting and open to other brands. I had support for owning a chevy cuz they are fast, but whatever, maybe you guys will understand. I always rep'd GM and fought "Honda Forever" but hopefully you guy will understand how to get out of the pompus "i love my domestic, american pride, foreign built, imported part, myshit breaks every week but its okay cuz i have a warranty," attitude.
Also I'd love to have an s10 with a smallblock in it.

my family owns two chevrolet vans, one with 450k miles and the other with 250k miles. we have a 99 chevy cavilier with 120k miles. a 2003 chevy tracker with about 70k miles. and my chevy cobalt with only 5000 on it, we've never had a problem with any of them and they all still run strong....

so.... my question to you is what do you do to your cars that make them run like crap?

not trying to like attack you or anything but i'm perplexed. we've always bought chevy's cause they last forever. maybe we're just lucky i dunno

you got lucky ... i had a 83 suburban i put 480K on (Diesel) ... my first cobalt 06 LTZ a few problems ... 2nd 06 SS almost perfect ... 3rd 07 SS piece of junk and it only has 1400 miles on it (bad paint all around, Scratched and misfiting interior, Leather seats are wrinkled and "dented", fans and belts are noisy. brake rotors already have deep groves.

others: 03 suburban LT a few problems (like it runs outa gas at 1/4 tank sometimes ... 99 Venture POS died at 70K ... 05 Venture POS ... 05 Cavi few problems ... 03 Cavi OK ... 02 Camaro SS POS ...

A lot of people said Olds would never go out of business. why are Chevy Dealerships closing up?

and i do not beat the crap outa my cars.

Ehem...wrong.

Saab didn't develop the engine.

The Family 0 & 1 ECOTECs were developed by GM-Opel. The Family 2 were developed by GM-Opel as well and these are the ones that are in the North American GM cars.
