My lowest insurance rate available for the Cobalt SS S/C
I was astounded when I got some figures from insurance companies. I'm 22, good driving history, credit scores around 700, and i'm looking at 86.14 to 126.04 monthly for full coverage on a 2005 Cobalt S/C. This does seem a little low compared to what others are paying. What kinds of insurance are you S/C owners paying monthly?

21 years old, Full Coverage, 1 ticket for speeding and my insurance is $1865 a year on a 2005 SS s/c. Yes I said a year. God I love military discount. 250 deductable. I think it's because I have used the same insurance company on everything I own. I have my house and my bike using the same insurance company. It's called multi policy dicount and all that other crap.

A big determining factor is where you live as well. For example, New York City and surrounding areas will be rated as higher risk and insurance payment will suffer because of that. I was quoted a total of $825 (on an SS/SC that I have not purchased yet) for 6 months; that's after a 10% discount for homeowner's insurance with the same company. I just recently turned 25 with a completely clean record and FICO just above 750. Austin, TX by the way. As the Cobalt SS/SC becomes known and more frequents the roads, the insurance probably will go up because of reported accidents, break-ins, etc.

I pay about $80/month to insure the SS/SC, perfect credit, perfect driving record (been pulled over, but in PA it only affects your insurance if it's a points infraction). That's up from $48/month on my 98 Cavalier RS...so my insurance nearly doubled. But then again I dropped the deductable to $250 and got full tort, everything else is covered, rental car, etc.
I'm 24, so it's still pretty low but I get discounts for being a full time graduate student, good student discount, multi-policy discount, and safe driver discount. Plus in May when I turn 25 the insurance drops down again, I think she said it should go to about $65-70 a month so all things considered it's not too bad, especially compared to what some of you guys pay plus the fact that I'm paying the "metro" rate because they consider Pittsburgh to be a metropolitan area vs where my grandparents live, which is out in the country and they pay next to nothing for insurance (I think they pay about $20/month.)

Buying the car is the cheap part of driving.

What you people should do is have your SS rated as the 'pleasure' car. You can drive it anywhere anytime. It's what I did and it only costs me $80 a month and I'm 18. I have Farmers Insurance.....

Ok.. I'm going to shut you all up. I live in NJ.. I am 24. I have one ticket on my record from 3 years ago.
I pay $4400 a year! The collision and comprehensive makes up most of that. I'm trying to switch over to NJ manufacturer's through my job. That should help some. I can barely afford to drive this thing.
