Angry My SS got bit!

Well guys bad news..... I'm heading home from work last night around 10pm on a country road, I'm doing about 60 the out of no where a black cat runs out in front of me.....with no time to react I smoked it. I pull into my driveway 2 miles down the road to find my car smoking. Turn it off. In panic I get out and find a coolant trail behind my car and a puddle getting larger by the second. So I run in the house and get a jug of water and fill up the coolant again. As fast as i fill the faster it comes out. So i'm running out of ideas. I get a spot light and look at my intercooler...........BAM theres the black cat. I peeled the cat away from the intercooler and come to find that the damn cat made my intercooler look like a V shape pushed it back so far that it bent the radiator and broke the mounts for the fan..........So long story short I get a flat bed take it to the dealer, call the insurance company and as of now 1:00pm est the dealer has found that i need a new intercooler, radiator, radiator fan assembly, and all the mounting brackets for the listed.
Now just waiting on the estimate....I'll keep ya posted!!!

p.S. get the grille cover to prevent this from happening to any of you guys and gals much luck!

BUMMER! i'm impressed that you peeled the cat off of your heat exchanger . . . that's daring. Good luck getting your ride fixed; at least it was a cat & not something really unfortunate like a DEER.

that sux, but your lucky it wasn't a deer. my buddy had a 92 f250 with 40 inch tires and 10 or so inches of lift. coming home from nj down back roads he hit a deer with the driverside front and flipped the truck over several times. needless to say. deer really f up vehicles

I would definitely involve your dealer and GM on this one point out this is a design flaw by not having that grill coming from the factory installed!!! If you don't get anywhere with that then I suggest you write to your local congressman (not sure how it works in the US) or whatever governing body may have influence over the matter. As far as I'm concerned, the lack of a lower grill is a safety issue which GM knows about but has chosen not to address.

Since he peeled it off his heat exchanger I'd guess it's all grilled up and ready to be served at the roadkill cafe!

yeah man, that blows, that's why i got a billet grill to put in the front, don't know if it helps, but i feel better about it. the only thing i've smoked in my SS is a couple squirrels in my neighborhood that run out in front of cars

well i got some ball park figures from the dealership....not really worried since the insurance is picking it up but here it goes, needs a new intercooler, radiator, raditor fan assembly, a/c, condenser, and coolant fill tank. All is going to run around 2200 including labor. All the parts are coming from lansing michigan and of course all are on back order. The soonest my car could be done is in 2 1/2 weeks, o well I'll keep the miles off it. In the meantime they got me sportin' an 05 tahoe.
