SShaner, didn't they raise the speedlimits in Texas on the highways to like 80 or something now. I think it should b like that all over the US. The other day i was on the turn-pike, middle of the day doin 85mph. Yea it's kinda fast but i was getting passed by moms and old people, i couldn't believe it!

I am just hoping my trooper doesn't show or I can pay without points, lol. 82 in a 55 for me. Only 180 compared to your 550 though.

80 in a 55 for me...and i was accused of "drag racing," just going w/ traffic flow c'mon now, my s/c would NOT be neck and neck w/ a old beat up Integra sedan sporting a fart-can

and if i was racing, i would've been going wayyy faster than 80 mph...cops in MD are ********, im feelin like they assumed it was a race cuz i had a spoiler and he had a fart-can

Route 2 was a great idea. I don't know if you know this, but with traffic school, you will also get a discount on your insurance for 3 years too.

Not bad in my mind.

going to traffic school only takes points off your license but your insurance company still finds out. I went to traffic school twice in 7 years. you can only go once every three years. Your insurance will now cost more. at least thats the way it is in arizona

In Texas you just take the class, the ticket goes away, insurance is not notified of the ticket, just that you took "safe driver" training, and you get I believe a 20 or 25% discount on insurance.

I got a ticket a couple weeks back for doing 60 in a 25 (the road is one of the straightest around) but the cop gave me the ticket for reckless driving instead of speeding so it was $106.50 and 2 points.

For Arizona tickets it's $120 plust the cost of computer use at Fed-Ex Kinkos.

I just did mine through Trafficschoolonline.com. I was doing 80 in a 65. It's farily easy, but Arizona requires that you take no less than 5.5 hrs to complete the course. They time the pages that you have to read so that you can't go to the next one until the timer reaches zero. Kind of a pain in the @$$ but you can log out and come back as you please, so long as you complete the course in the allotted time.

Make sure your court approves it! Some do and some do not.

Just go to http://www.trafficschoolonline.com and click on the Arizona Defensive Driving. It's on the main page, you can't miss it. Just transfer the information from your ticket, then fax or mail them a copy of your citation and give them your payment information. (I paid over the phone because the "secured site" icon never appeared on my browser despite the fact that they say it is secured) Once they check it and verify that you are eligable (sp?) they charge your account and allow you to start the course.

It was $120 for the class and court deferment fees. Then approx. $5 additional to use the FedEx-Kinkos computer to take my final. You have to take it there because Arizona also requires someone to verify the you are actually the person taking the test.

I think only an idiot would fail the class. It is mainly common sense and a few questions about how taking the online class works. I missed only 1 of the 50-55 quiz question and 1 of the 55 final test questions. The quiz question I missed was BS because it said one thing in the text and then another for the answer. I would have fought it if I needed to.

Radar detectors are BS.
I should know. I've used plenty of radars.
If a cop is actively using his radar then he will get you long before your detector is going off.
Now if a cop is mobile and just happens to have the radar running (but not actively pursuing speeding tickits) then they will provide you with a small but decent chance of slowing down before they cop can figure out which vehicle is doing the speeding.

Most in Arizona use laser now. Radar can't see that until it's too late.
