Need fuel, will suck

Get your attention? Good! I'm in need of siphoning my fuel tank (or pumping it out, whatever) so I don't have to carry fuel cans in my trunk. It's snowmobiling season again, and I really don't need my car smelling like fuel. How do I go about it? I shoved a half inch piece of hose down a good two, three feet, but still came back up dry. Should I consider a pump? I have one of those little siphon pumps, but it's not working out so well. Thanks!

most cars cannot be siphoned, the addition of rollover valves prevents the hose from entering the tank, you might be S.O.L

if your truck is the one in your avatar, you were able to do that because the truck is old. modern cars & trucks have anti-siphoning mechanisms

why in **** don't you just buy a spill proof jerry can. There are new designs that have a valve insided the provided filler neck that acts exactly like the anti-siphoning unit in your car's tanks. NO mess, NO smell, and they are only a couple of bucks more then a regular jerry can.

*sigh* why does GM have to make things so difficult. The cap is there to HOLD THE GAS IN. We don't need some gay anti rollover junk to prevent us from using our gas for what we need it for. How do you disconnect the filler hose? I'm gonna climb under the car later but it's all wet underneath because it's thawing out from being outside all day in the fresh snow.

it can be done a guy i work with has a 2005 chey truck and one night after work we went out and his gas door was open and his cap was gone , we though someone just stole his gas cap but when he started his truck up it was below half a tank and he had just filled it up right before work. i didn't think it was posiable but i witnessed it with my own eyes. but why would you want to get gas in your mouth i would rather have gas smell in my car than the taste in my mouth...

Are those the ones with the different spout? The self venting ones?

These ones?

That's why they make the doors with mechanisms to deter theft. Or caps that lock. I have one of them. They deter. It's just like a door lock or an alarm. They can still break the glass and get what they want.

Our jerry's look a little different, but I think that's the same general idea. The one I have has the valve and I can put the filler neck in, turn it upside down, slosh it around and not loose and petro, and no smell.

So tomorrow's agenda consists of: Going to school, at lunch, buy big ass jerry can. Put in trunk. After jazz choir practice after school I'll fill the damn thing when I fill my car.

it depends where the rollover valve is, if its in the filler neck, okay, but most are in the neck of the tank
