I'm currently going to inherit my Dad's 06' Cobalt its, an LS 4 door i believe.
it's in a mettallic purple..
yea flaming, i know..

I personally dont want my car to be all looks..
I do want a body kit and a paint job.
i was looking at the DRIFTER 2 body kit.
I want to go black with the paint color,

iam wondering if i could keep a $5000 dollar budget?
here are some things i want

Body Kit
Paint Job
Sound System
Performance Enhancing Parts. ( MORE HP)

Anyone have any ideas?

oh, and i forgot to mention
tires and wheels. also.

 

the only way you're staying at $5000 with that list is if you do cheap ****. a good paint job alone can be $3000 plus body kits are usually around $1000...there's $4000 right there. maaco does not paint well. you want a good shop. also, a good sound system can be pricey too. with mine, all I did was replace the head unit, sub and amp and I was still at about a $1000. I also bought good ****. good luck man

i'd go wit wheels, paint and lowering springs. might be able to keep it around 5k.

it was intentionally ment to be a family car..
but turned into a work vehicle since we bought an 08 tacoma
but yea.. i want to make the car look nice too..

everything is stock, except it has an SS body kit. already installed.

 

i wanna know why everyone thinks that you cant do anything with anything other then ss im mean god forbid that you try to mod an lt or ls coupe or sedan all you get is flamed why is that

 

keep the SS kit man, IMO its the best looking one out there. thats kinda crucial info, you shoulda said that in the first post, haha

 

yea i dont think they realize that even if the Cobalt is SS
its still slow,
so why not make it look nice regardless of speed,
im sure anyone could tweak a few things to make it somewhat moderate speed

haaha, sorry, some guy pulled out infront of 4 lanes in Vancouver and we smoked him , tboned it was the guys fault, he took care of all finances of repairs, and when my dad got the car back, he relized the front bumper and side skirts were different.

yea, if it already has an ss kit, leave it. those are clean

 

the guy above said 3k, but that would be almost show quality if only one color. i would say about a 1000 to 1500 would get you a good black. just find a reputable bodyshop that does a lot of insurance repairs, they usually do a good job.

go look in the 2.2 performance tech section of the forums, that will help you more than i can. the usual thing people do is I/H/E Intake/Headers/Exhaust. 2.2'sa ren't really performance oriented, but you can get them there. you can buy more agressive cams, and get a tune, but i wouldn't recommend that until you learn more
