Need Some Advice

Hello all, this is my first post on this site and i hope i am welcome as i do not own a SS but only a LS. I havent had the money to do anymore add-ons to my car in the last year, but now with a recent pay raise i will have some spare cash to add on to my car.

I now have 19'' Incubus Rims, i do have the SS spoiler as i love that spoiler and it is probably one of the few spoilers that i have seen that dont look idiotic. I also have a CAI, it is an off brand as it was the last of some of the money i saved up and i could not buy a good one. I added power locks and tinted my windows as well.

Here she is.

I was wondering if i could get some tips on some easy mods i can do to help my car go a little faster. My first goal was to get a Magna Flow Cat-Back exhaust and headers, then maybe after that i will buy an Injen CAI so i no longer have some cheap off brand CAI. I have been trying to look into maybe some performance chips but i really have had no luck with finding anything that would go for my LS. I would like to (In a few years) get enough for a turbo but i do not know if they make any that would go with an automatic (i was sick when i got the car and didnt think i could deal with the shifting).

Does any of this sound good or are these ideas dumb for my LS, i am almost certain that i will get by exhaust and headers done since that is only around $800. But is there anything else i can do that is relatively easy to do that i am missing? I havent really had time to work on cars as much as i used; and most of them were old mopars anyways so i really do not know much about new performance parts. Would spark plugs be easy and help my HP at all? Any ideas will be happily accepted. Thank you in advance.

Hmm nope not unless someone did it without me knowing.

Edit: Sorry about posting this subject three times my computer froze and it made three posts, i really do not know what happened.
My friend told me to lower it too, these wheels already rub if i turn to hard, would that not cause the problem to happen more?

Ok well ill do some research on some lowering spring, i just didnt want to rub my tires to much, as one is already bent in three places because of pot holes. How hard are they to install?

Drop it! Your car is pretty solid looking right now, but drop it a couple inches and it'll look 100x better. Plus I'm a fan of driving around corners really fast, and the springs will help with the handling too.

Ok then ill lower it, it wont be for another month or so hopefully sooner, but nobody said how hard it will be to install them. Plus how hard are spark plugs or finding a chip?

Ok well i found a kit that said it will do 2 inches up front and 2.5 in the back, so i think that will be enough. But nobody said how hard they are to install. Plus how hard would it be to install spark plugs and a chip, or are they not worth it

springs arent hard to install at all. i used eibach sportlines. spark plugs are easy to install as well but depending on your mileage you wouldnt need them right now. and as far as chips. jet chip makes one. its either that or a trifecta tune which in my opinion is the better route but you wont want to do that until you have some more mods like you exhaust and everything

rear springs are a piece of cake. the front ones are more of a pain in the ass.

spark plugs are easy, at least they are in my L61.

and as for a chip, i'd say get a Trifecta tune. it's goos stuff.

Ok well i looked at trifecta im guessing all the sell is chips because there site has no options on what you want to buy. I should be able to post a new picture here in a month or two after i get the money saved up and install the parts, thank you guys for your help.

trifecta is a tune not a chip they contact you with what you want to see with the car. you need more mods before you venture down this road.

I think instead of springs you should get either a SC or TC strut/shock/spring set up and just replace the whole thing?

and spark plugs are like changing oil difficulty wise

and a custom tune is 100x better than a chip and only about 4x the cost lol

My friend said that if i ended up getting lowering springs that it will make my ride rougher. Is that true because my car is already very rough since my tires are very thin.

Edit: Will performance spark plugs let me gain any power with them, or what exactly will they help if i install better plugs. And can anyone tell me a good brand for the cobalt?

Spark plugs will not give you any gains, none, nada.

And yes, lowering springs will firm up the ride a bit (firmer, not jiggly like your low profile tires) but the improvment in handling is more than worth it imho....not to mention the huge improvment in appearance

Then why do people buy aftermarket spark plugs if they do nothing to help you? That doesnt make very much sense.

I still plan on getting the lowering springs because i think even with the springs on there its still higher then it was when i got it stock lol.

On my LS, I put the factory SS front sway bar, and factory SS struts and springs in front. In the back I put the factory SS shocks and springs, with a Time Attack Hardcorce rear sway bar. This droped the car about 1.5", and handles like it is on rails...

On a seriously modded (boosted, nos, etc) car you may need to go to a colder plug to prevent preignition or solve other problems.
On a stockish (basic bolt ons) car you will gain nothing. The plugs fire or they don't, if they don't you need new ones.

And as someones sig (don't recall who off the top of my head) on here states:
"Some people would put a tuna sandwich under the hood if someone told them it increased horsepower"

The fe1 (LS/LT) suspension does sit a bit higher (1/2" iirc) than the fe3 (SS/NA) or fe5 (SS/SC and SS/TC) but because the stock wheels are a smaller diameter, the roofline sits about the same. The wheels and tires you have now are likely bigger in diameter than the stockers so will make you sit even higher.

Side note: with the larger wheels / tires on there, your speedo will read lower than your actual speed.

I was just curious about the spark plugs really. I never intended on getting any unless there was a main purpose for them. I just know all of the cobalt sites that sell performance parts always have spark plugs on there but they never really said why they helped.

About the 4x4 comment, i thought he was serious for the first day. Then i woke up the next morning and kind of put his comment in line with everyone elses and finally caught on to the sarcasm. First time in my entire life it took me that long to catch on to sarcasm.
