new to all this
well back in november i was in a ver bad car accident and i had a 08 silverado ext cab. lets just say when it was done looked like an earnhart/andretti crash combined. the truck was totaled hit the wall head-on and truck spin and hit the wall some more. they said i bend the frame like all the way from the front of the truck to the rear-axel mark..
so with the insurance money paid off the truck and laid down 5k on a 09 cobalt LS. i thought to myself hey ima get a car.. will be cheaper on gas and note wont be very high. was plannin for the future cause im back in college now and i werk 20 to 40 hours a week so im not making as much money as i used to. but being that i made like a lil over 30k last year im getting 2k back for income tax, after i pay my warrants off im gunna buy some rims and maybe a bodykit and threw time i want to get more things like seats, system, different steering wheel, different shifterknob .. lil accessories like that. I plan on keeping this car for a long time. Ive always wanted a project car and later i wanna turn this into a project car.. i should have it paid off within 2 or 3 years so .. i plan on keeping it and getting something else after its paid off.. but im wondering mainly tho
it being an LS trim model. what will i have to do to make it an SS and then i know ima gunna want to put turbo on it .. in all in all id like to make it a very fast car.. preferbly 11s if possible. if anyone has any guidance and advice for me.. id love it ... ty everyone

If you want 11s, you're gonna need forget internals, a big turbo, and an ass load of money. The internals are only rated to 250 hp on the 2.2. Honestly, I don't think it's gonna be feasable and still possible to be a dd. Good luck though. If you're gonna put ss stuff on it, PLEASE don't put ss badges on it. The body kit is fine, but don't try to be something you're not, even if your faster. Good luck on the build and I'm sure I'll se ya around. Where you from btw?
lol
trust me im not that kinna guy ... i wont put ss badges on it lol
i agree with you on that, i hate when ppl get mustanges and put the cobra badges on it when its not a cobra... lol i knew a guy in my highschool that had a 05 v6 mustang and he put cobra emblems on it and got an exhaust put on it that made it sound like a diesel almost.. it was terrible.. he thought he was cool **** but i always thought it like all mustangs were gay.. i have a sayin about mustangs that i believe everyone has heard.. their like tampons every ***** has one.. plus in my opinion i think a sports car like a mustang and camero and challengers shouldnt come with v6's it defeats the purpose
but overall i was wondering.. to comment back to you 2 guys... would i have to change the engine to get to that level? i mean ive seen videos of a 2.4L that hauled ass. are there any other engines out there that convert into this car.. cause ive heard of ppl puttings skyline engines in s2000's and in silvia's, and are there any better trannys that would be good to have to upgrade the cobalt. im not sure what tranny i have... mines a 5 speed but idk if its the F35 or not... atleast thats what i read that thats what one of the 5 speed trannys for the cobalt is... called the F35..
im from TX, im like 20 mins from louisiana and bout hour and half from houston... depends how you drive really ... if you went a 100 the whole way probly could get to houston in an hour,, but if you did speed limit it would take you like hour&45 mins...
oh and i intend to take all my badges off my car when i go to paint it but that will be later on after the body kit and rims and tint and some of the inside accessories are checked off the list
feel free to give me advice and stuff.. im very new to this but i definately would like to get into this for a hobbie.

No, it will be cheaper to build the engine than to do the swap. It's been talked about many times, and everyone comes to the same conclusion. It's cheaper to buy an SS than to do an engine or tranny swap. Also, if your an auto, stay that way. It's not worth the effort to swap to a 5 speed. I'm sure some of the pros on here could comment better, but if you decide to do a build, I would shoot for the 12s first, then work from there. That's a more realistic goal. VERY few cobalts have made it into the 11s, and most of the ones that did are built by performance shops such as ZZP.
Check out some of the stickies and how to's, they're a good place to start and get ideas. Spend some time using the search and reading around, it will help a lot.
