New Cobalt SS Supercharged
Last night I talked my friend into buying a 2006 Cobalt SS 2.0 I must say I am glad that I talked him into this car over the New Honda Civic Si.
After he baught it he was so pleased that I help him that he let me drive it off the lot. Holly s**t. For 20K you can't go wrong. I think this will be my next Daily driver.
I currently have a 2002 Audi TT roadster quattro. So I have high standards and could not let him buy a Japanese car. The fit and finish on the Cobalt is much nicer than the Honda. Don't get me wrong. The honda is a nice car, but after driving the Chevy I was amazed. Go
Anyway I joined the site to help my Bud out. Doing some research and what not. He is not much of a car buff so I don't mind helping him out....
Some of my first questions are:
What is the break in period like? I told him to take it easy for the first 1k
When should the first oil change occur? I was thinking around 1K
I called my Buddy in Oregon who is a Master Tech for Rose City Chevrolet and he said take it easy for 500 miles and change the oil. Then start to drive it harder. That seem to be like a good plan to me.....
Thanks for your help,
Uriah

F break in, I drove it the first 500, just like I was gonna the rest of it's life. Well i think it was 200-250 before I powershifted all the gears from a redlight. Gotta get it used to being driven like a ****.
J/k I waited a bit longer then that, but not much. I didn't want it to think its whole life would be nice and easy.

I believe oil changes go by the computer in the car. Meaning, it will let you know when it needs it's oil change. I asked the same question when I bought mine and I got told to refer to the user's manual, and that's what it says. My SS now has 16K miles on it and it runs like a champ! I can't wait to get it on the autobahn out here!
Tell you bud congrats!
