Newb question , answers appreciated

Hey guys , just bought an '06 Laser Blue Cobalt 'LS' , and it comes factory with P195x15R60's on it . well , I have some rims picked out , and I have two options :

1: P205x17R45's on 17 inch rims
2: P205x16R55's on 16 inch rims

Will there be a major difference between those two choices as far as ride comfort and smoothness of the overall ride ?? Thanks

Definatley bigger the better. I'd go with the 17's. Gaps in the wheel wells aren't attractive.

I'd rather have less gap too , but not at the expense of a smooth ride on long trips , I was kinda wondering if anyone had any idea if there would be a difference between the two for performance of ride comfort

Thanks for replying though

well the SS/SC rims are 18's with low pros and i think the ride is great. ive drivin' to OCMD from PA and didnt have one problem with the ride. I think you'll be fine with the 17's..plus, they will look better.

i have 18s on my base model and i slammed it.... the ride got alittle rougher when i upped the rims size b/c you have more rim/less tire when compaired to the stock 15/16s...... going to 17inch will make the ride alittle tougher but you wont really be abel to tell, i wouldnt worry at all.... but when you put them on you have to take off those metal retainers (2 per rim) or you will get vibrations

I'm going with P215/50R17 Yokohama AVS ES100 on 17X7 rims. I'll be crusing at about 70 mph at 2500 rpms in fifth

Not trying to threadjack, but great choice in tires. I had those on my neon, and they were monsters. In rain they handled like it was dry. I might actually look at getting them for my SS/SC when it needs tires. BTW, rotate them every 3000 miles, not 6000. They will last like regular tires then.

It depends more on the offset of the wheels you plan to go with. Most 16" and 17" wheels are 7" wide, but the offset will determine how wide of a tire you can run. The diameter wouldn't really be a factor here as you aren't looking for truck tires.
