Is this normal?

I installed my new stage 2 ZZP blower cams along with new rollers as well as the taller lash adjusters ZZP provides with their cam. I got to looking at it and it appears that the valves are held open slightly when I think they should be closed. Is this normal? Do the lifters or anything "break-in"?

Cam position above exhaust port

Looking at the back side of the valves you can see daylight.

Currently waiting on a reply from ZZP but to me this doesn't seem right. It's not just one set of valves. All of the valves are like this and this is as closed as they get.

I took my cams, rollers and lash adjusters back out over lunch and discovered something interesting. On some of the new taller lash adjusters that ZZP provided I can easily depress the mechanism significantly with my fingers. Others I couldn't compress at all even if I pressed really hard. When I first put them in they felt rigid. There were a couple I could compress very little but most of them didn't move. I am thinking/hoping that maybe I used too much assembly lube and it hydraulically locked the lash adjusters in an over-extended position. Maybe once there is oil flowing through them everything will be just dandy. I wish I knew more about the lash adjuster mechanism because then it would be easier to diagnose.

Are you talking stock lash adjusters or ZZP's taller units? I don't know if they work exactly the same. Because I can't compress any of my old stock LAs but I can on many of the units ZZP provided.

That's the thing about the adjusters ZZP provides. They don't tell you anything about them. They don't even mention them on their product page for the LSJ cams. They just send them with the cams. So I don't know anything about them, how they are supposed to work, what's normal and what isn't. Either way I think the gap I was seeing is caused by the lash adjusters and assuming the cam is correct. I know they had some incorrectly ground cams back in 2013 so I would think they would be extra vigilant to not let that happen again.

Lol so ZZP just got back to me asking if I had specifically purchased the taller lash adjusters that they are for the LNF cams ONLY and that the LSJ uses standard lash adjusters. So I guess they included the taller lash adjusters on accident. I wondered why there was no mention of them anywhere on the product page or anything. Oh well, I can relax now knowing my stock lash adjusters should work.
