parking on a hill???
I have 5,000 miles on my car, and my clutch is fine. I have never beat on the car, and I have never even launched the car from a stop. My clutch has never slipped. Anyways, I was parked on a slight hill with no parking brake, and my car slowly inches down the incline. It stops then it rolls back about 5 inches, then it stops and then rolls 5 inches. WTF is going on. If I put it into 2 gear, it gets worse and goes faster down the incline. The hill isn't even that crazy either. Anyone have this happen. I'm glad I caught this because if someone was parked behind me, my car would have eventually rolled into the car.

weird maybe your tranny is slipping. a buddy of mine had a similar thing happen to him in his automatic truck where it would randomly decide to roll back when it was in gear, but sounds like warranty work to me

you would think but it didn't do it to my buddy. i've never personally had it happen to me other then my ebrake not liking to hold. but i would still take it into a dealer and have them check it out as there is obviously something wrong. the only thing that i could see happening that you would be doing is not having it all the way into the gear but its kinda hard to miss that on our cars.

ya, I know that it is fully engaged in gear. So I am stumped. It's going to be hard to to show the dealer considering I'm going to have to find a hill to show them.

that incline must be a bear. if your clutch doesn't slip, then you're turning the crank in your motor, and it slows down on the compression stroke as compressing the air in the cylinder is rather hard.
try doing it in reverse. the car shouldn't roll, it's a lower gear ration than first.
doesn't matter what direction of travel you think it'll have, a gear ratio is a gear ratio, and it's harder to turn the motor through reverse.

but i wouldn't think it would roll in reverse, unless you had a LOT of weigh in the car and it was a super steep hill.

That's what the parking brake is for. If the incline is enough to move the car, then the e-brake is an obvious must.......Automatics are different because they're locked in Park.
