Chevy making an HHR "SS" or "sport" model, using the current GXP/RL turbo motor. If the HHR gets this, whats the chances of the Cobalt SS getting the same???

Wow.. so many threads.. this is getting so dumb.
GM is NOT officially cancelling the Cobalt in 09, that is simply how long they signed for production when it was first created. They may renew it. Nothing is official.
GM has said they fully intend to bring the performance market another sport compact car, but they said at this time they are not ready to talk about it's specifics. It may be a Cobalt, it may be a completely new platform. Only time will tell.
GM has also said that their next performance small size will very likely be based off a Forced Induction engine. They are very interested in FI, so since the LNF is already a production engine, it would make sense for them to use it. However as with all the rest of these things, nothing is official!

and a Silverado SS??? er, NO!
The SS name is the thing being dropped off of the balt. There isn't enough room in the chevy garage for everything to have an SS badge on it. The only thing in the line up that didn't get that ss badge is the Aveo.
Anyways... The Cobalt is going to still be made. It is outselling most other brands in the small car industry. The Cavalier/Sunbird-Sunfire/Saturn ? deal was resigned Several times over the course of their lifetime. With UAW wanting more money, GM is using shorter deals as scare tactics to make the UAW negotiate lower pay packages.
Stop bickering over this, OMG My Cobalt will never be made! Ummm... Most of you probably still have loans or leases out...so why worry bout the next gen? Pay off yours and Mod it out. Who cares bout the next gen cobalt...You have YOURS in your Driveway.
