I've actually heard some bad stories of them in bad weather conditions, my freinds girlfreind totaled one because she skidded going around a curve (sounds alot like ure story lol) and hit a tree. I just don't think they grip as well as they should, thats what toyota gets for trying to make cheap classy cars. Also alot of these stories have swayed me away from scions.
Cobalt all the way

ok...you got it wrong in the pic(honest mistake cause it does look like a front mount).....the silver thing you see is actually just the condensor for the air conditioning..its located right in front of the radiator. The real intercooler/aftercooler is located in #502 in the pic below

The Cobalt doesnt have a front mount intercooler, rather a laminova heat exchanger
unlike the srt-4(which has an air-air intercooler like most turbo vehicles.) The 2.0 LsJ engine has a laminova heat exchanger(fancy way of saying liquid-air intercooler)

So basically inside the manifold they have these little tubes(4 of them) that coolant runs threw to cool the aircharge right before it goes into the chambers.
As seen in the Pic below...also after the pic is a list of what all the nubers are...you will see

(408) Oil Indicator Tube O-ring
(409) Oil Indicator Tube
(410) Oil Indicator Tube Bolt
(411) Oil Indicator O-ring
(412) Oil Indicator
(500) Intake Manifold Gasket
(502) Intake Manifold
(503) Throttle Body Seal
(504) Throttle Body
(506) Throttle Body Bolt
(518) Intercooler O-ring
(519) Intercooler Washer
(520) Intercooler Washer
(521) Intercooler O-ring
(522) Intercooler Cover Gasket
(523) Intercooler
(524) Intercooler Cover
(525) Intercooler Cover Bolt
(526) Intercooler Cover Seal

(527) Supercharger Gasket
(528) Supercharger
(529) Supercharger Bolt
(711) Map Sensor
(726) Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor
(727) Map Sensor Bracket
(728) Map Sensor Bracket Bolt
(749) Map Sensor Bolt

then how come it says: (502) Intake Manifold ??
and is that huge air conditioning unit really necessary?? Looks like they ripped it off a silverado.....

the intercooler number is 523, it goes into the manifold 502 thus intercooling the air befor intering the cylinder head.

where does the heat exchanger cool it's water down?? Snowman can you get a blow out of that system. I assume the heat exchanger has a radiator mounted somewhere on the car...

The heat exchanger uses the engine coolant to cool the instake charge, it does not have a separate supply.

if thats the case... first mod on this car should be blocking the engine coolant and running a seperate radiator/pump for thet intercooler...
