Plastic Cover

So I have the plastic cover still on the engine because I thought it would keep it clean and I haven't done any mods that needed it to be removed. I noticed after driving that it gets pretty warm due to the engine and kinda started to wonder if it traps some of the heat in the engine and if it would actually be better to take it off and allow the engine to breathe a little more. Idk, random thing I was thinking, any thoughts or does this sound completely stupid?

That's what makes the tick noises? I was wondering what that was cause I was getting worried. Might be time to retire the cover lol.

the engine makes ticking noises and the cover reduces those sounds...

Won't make a difference...it's there to make it look better.

The engine will actually run slightly cooloer w/o the cover, but not enough to really make a difference in anything. I personally didn't notice any difference in sound when I took my cover off and I thought it looked better without it.

The engine will run slightly cooler, like 1-2 degrees F. Thats all you are gona see. You will also hear the engine more with it removed.

x2 to both of these.

I took my engine cover off and it looks much better. Once I get rid of the stock airbox for either a GMPP or K+N intake, it'll look even better.

I always leave my "Driver info center" on engine collant. Mine will still get over 200 in stop and go (especially at offramp). Otherwise, mine is usually never above 196. I noticed 1-2 degree differance, thats all its gona amount to.

I don't know whats under an M3s hood, but they must have something to cover it up too.

the cover on my ss/na definitly made the engine bay look better. the only nice looking cobalt engine bays are the SC and TC. the 2.4L and 2.2L's need those cover to keep you from looking at the ugly components in there.

Dude...are you saying m3 or ms3 or just mazda 3? Be clear...

M3 is bmw
Ms3 is mazdaspeed 3
Mazda3 is self-evident

Also...why are you still on the cobalt forums?

If your asking "(mazda 3 i touring value edition) does that explain it??" meaning why you love it...Then no.. I dont see why.. and also it does not explain why you are still on a cobalt forum????...
