Unhappy Pontiac G6 GTP or Cobalt SS S/C

I test drove a G6 GTP today, seemed like a pretty nice car. I've test drove a Cobalt SS/sc too, I liked that car alot. Assuming both cars are the same price, fully loaded, leather, sunroof, both Manual transmision, which one would you choose and why?

The SS/SC is a 2.0 4cyl @205hp, the G6 GTP is a 3.9 v6 @ 240hp.....
Cobalt has a 5 speed, G6 has a 6 speed trans.
I don't think the G6 Looks to bad needs a decent spoiler....I really like the looks of the Cobalt though (needs a nice spoiler though).... I know I can get the Cobalt for a bit less than I can get the G6, assuming I put the difference into the Stage kits, were talking about the same HP......ugh....Anyone tested the tow and made a decision?

Thanks for any help.

I personally love the G6, but it's more of a classy car rather than sporty like the Cobalt. Thats just my 2 cents though.

You want sport? get the Cobalt.

You want Class? get the G6.

i have a 06 g6 gtp that im selling i just dont like it. granted mine is a auto with manual shift mode but i still dont care for it.
i dont like the body roll when im taking a curve at posted or slightly above speed. i dont like the torque steer
my g6 has 6k in miles 90% highway and if i baby it im lucky to see 20mpg.
my ss/sc i floor it alot to hear the SC same 90% highway miles and im getting 26mpg.
even though the g6 has more hp it still feels alot slower then the SS/SC.

i got the 4dr sedan and it does have tons of room in it.its a toss up on the interior as they both seem similar to me in fit and finish.

i got my balt SS/SC for 17980 with 0 down the gtp i got for 25900 it stickered for 28100

if i were you id get the balt and put the diffrance into modding the balt but thats me

good luck in what ever you choose to get

Keep in mind that the Cobalt SS/SC is under-rated where as the G6 is over-rated when it comes to HP.

The g6 gtp coupe loaded has a way way way better interior than the ss/sc. I have both and trust me when I say that. I bought my car for speed, reliability, looks in that order. Hopefully I am not going to fail the reliabilty test but the others tests have passed with flying colors.

I'm deffinately leaning towards the SS/SC.....I know what I'm not getting though.....
I'm not buying a Honda (ever), or Scion, or Dodge SRT-4.....
We have one of those "sell a bunch of makes" dealers here in Dekalb and I stopped in to check out some cars (the aboved mentioned) and take them for a drive, I wanted to know that I'm buying the car I like the most, not the one I think I like the most. So I talk to a sales man and tell him I see he has 3 cars on the lot that are in my group of cars to consider with the Chevy Cobalt, I'd like to get some information about them and take them for a drive. He asks me if I have driven the Cobalt yet, I say yes. He says did You like it, I said yes. He said so what are you doing here? I said I have a couple other options and I want to make sure I choose the car I most enjoy. He says "well, it seems like you like the Cobalt, you should go buy it, we don't want to put miles on our cars" To which I said thank you very much. And walked out the Door, drove to the pontiac dealer and took a drive in the G6.

Anyway, I'll be writing a letter to the dealer about there snobish ***** of a salesman, anything else I should do?

Look at it this way.
G6 = Some what fast car that is great for crusing and road trips but is going to get crapy fuel mileg most of the time. Its heavy and more of a turing car.
Cobalt SS S/C = A faster car that is smaler and more fun to drive still a good cruser but not as much of a turing car. It will get beter fuel mileg and is going to be alot easy to mod.

I drove both.
And bout the SS.

GTP is a nice car. Ive sat in it but I would have to drive it to see. If you like the tuner feel and the boost rush as much as i do, you would fall in love with the cobalt. Take your time... What was your first decision?

My first decision was the Cobalt....I see more potential and a easier engine to work with....That 3.9 doesn't give you much room to work....

He probably didn't think you could buy a car so he didn't bother to help you. Writing a letter won't do anygood what you need to do or should have done was talk to a manager at the time.

cars

Don't forget the Saturn Ion Redline, it is a little less money, and has the half doors to ease getting stuff out of the backseat.

Test drove the GTP, had high hopes for it and they were shot down, car feels big and heavy, clutch was mushy-felt like driving a jetta, shifter was terrible, steering whel off a 18 wheeler, but the seats were nice!

I haven't driven one, but it feels heavy for a reason! It is! The GTP weighs about 3500 lbs. The Grand Am GT weighed about 3000. I am amazed at how much this car weighs. The old Impala or Monte Carlo weighed 3400 lbs with the 3.8L! I saw a G6 parked a few weeks back, and it is not much bigger than the Cobalt (longer wheelbase though). They seriously should have stripped a few hundred pounds from that car.

I love the way it looks. Nice and classy, yet sporty. No body colored mirrors though? Whats with that. It looks like backseat riders would be more comfortable in it too because of the stretched wheelbase. It is like a 4-door with a coupe body.
