Post whether or not you have had door lock problems

Saw yet another post about our crappy door locks and thought it would be interesting to see large a problem they are.

Heres my story.
Its bad enough when you have to climb out the passenger side because you door wont open but the worst was when both of the door locks stuck on mine. I had to roll down the window at the gas station and pound on the door near the handle until whatever cheap little part clicked into place and I was able to get out.
I have since taken it all apart and lubed it and it hasn't occurred again but what I am hearing from others is that this is only temporary and I will eventually have to replace both lock assemblies.

2007

I had the same problem not too long ago. I took the door panel off too reach the locking mechanism inside the door. Took some WD40 and sprayed it, then took some grees and put it on the locking mechanism. Havent had problems since. Hope that makes sense and helps lol

Just my passenger from time to time it will lock up and I can't get in unless i yank on the inside handle and let it go fast.

As this thread grows, if people were to be sure to post the year of their Cobalt, I can document this for General Motors' consideration.

I'm afraid to vote on the poll as I don't want to jinx it.

I have an 06 and when I first got it, this happened all the time. I've had to climb out the passenger door several times. Thankfully that one never gets busted.

It's either the mechanism gets stuck so you can't open the door

OR

After you open the door it gets stuck. - Trying to shut just makes it bounce back open.

I've lubed that area several times and it's happened quite a bit. Knock on wood that it hasn't happened recently, but it's embarrassing when I close my door, go into a gas station, come back out expecting my door to open, and what do you know, a dead handle. Pounding in the general area of the lock on the bottom of the door does get to to work again though.

I was about to tear my hair out because of this quirk when I first got the car.
This and never having a reverse lockout on a manual car, lol.

2005 SS, have had either or sometimes both not work. You think climbing OUT is bad, even worse when you have to get to work and you can't get IN the car. Was late to work 4 or 5 times cause I couldn't get in the damn car. Finally had to just start parking it outside completely unlocked. VERY surprised the car is even still in my possession.

also afraid to jinx... but no problems yet.

however for a little while the passenger door wouldn't open. not because of the but the panel trim was like staying in the closed position while the actual door would open... idk why, i was able to beat it into its place eventually and it hasn't happened again... YET
