Question Problems with your Cobalt?

How many of you have had problem with you SS\SC or your 2.2, 2.4 balts, or is it just me that has bad luck. Post what had happened to your car, and how many times you have had problems small or big, just wants to make sure if it’s just my car or do I just have bad luck.

Reverse Shift Lever broke off.

Engine randomly stalled.

Reverse Shift Lever broke off again.

Two fronts bald after 3600 miles.

Dome Light stopped working.

Radio stopped working. (LED Display refused to come on, or scrambled, speakers fade in and out)

Driver's side door installed improperly from factory.

Passenger door window crank installed improperly - rattled VERY loud.

New radio stopped working. (Wiring harness likely faulty)

Two NEW fronts bald after 7000 miles.

Two rears bald after 9000 miles.

Did I mention that the reverse release shift lever broke again?
-Aleckor

P.S. All that crap was covered under warranty, except the two rears, and the second set of fronts. (They gave me two free new fronts because they had never seen them wear out so quickly before)

I have bunch of stuff wrong with the car, however the dealerships been pretty good to me with it. Also, when I mess with the car they don't say anything lol, which is always a plus.

I have only had to take my car to the dealer once in a year. My coolant sensor went bad and while it was there they noticed that the motor mounts had come loose so they fixed that too. And the top of my shifter came off to ( just glued it back on) But thats it for mine.

Everyone is going to have at least one problem with there car. Like me, the yellow plastic piece infront of the blinker light inside the headlite just fell out. I didnt hit anything and its not broken, its just laying there inside my light. Other than that I go thru alot of tires, but thats not my balts fault.

I only had one problem with my cobalt in nearly over a year. The clutch. So I just stuck in the most expensive best clutch upgrade I could find. It fixed the problem and man does the Exedy Clutch/flywhee/pressure plate work awesome.

Gotta love problems -

Steering wheel audio controls fail to work sometimes

Drivers side door installed improperly - it snaps near the front wheel when i open or close it.

(2.4 auto) When putting the car in park - sometimes it wont let the key go.. like it wont recognize that its in park unless i really jiggle the shifter

Really bad rattling under the hood, mostly when breaking, but happens when not breaking sometimes too. Sounds like the headlight is going to fall out or something

Door trim paint is rubbing off badly

yeah - my car has been in the shop since 8am yesterday and they still havent called me today. Pretty soon my ass is going to need a rental car.

misaligned hood caused the corner to fold- straightened and repainted

sunroof track broke causing creak and pop- replaced sunroof module

d/s inside door weatherstripping came loose- replaced

various rattles from glove box, to rear seat, to d/s door panel- loose window regulator

slipping clutch which might be replaced soon

loose d/s and p/s cv shafts- lubed splines and re-tightened

popping in steering- lubed steering shaft

loud popping in d/s seat- still unsure

lubed sticking door handles

creaking from around clutch pedal when applied- lubed around clutch interlock switch

I think I may have a bad tire too.....

I didn't realize how many I've had so far under 12k miles. Wow. I've also replaced the wiper blades and a corner bulb since buying it. Free under warranty FTW!

17 000 Kms. 1.3 years old. (Sept 06)
2007 SS SuperCharged - single issue - drivers headlight came with orange reflector. 07 SS' aren't supposed to. *Problem resolved under warranty, new headlight casing.

Doesn't anybody realize when buying a first or second model year vehicle, There ARE ISSUES AND BUGS to work out yet!? Nobody ever heard the term, "don't buy a first or second model year vehicle?"
I figure its the price you pay for having something before everyone else i guess.

I'm not complaining at all. It's a great car. Just the little bugs like you said.

I do all the work, so, I get the money and the satisfaction of working on my car at work. lol
