Nope. I would feel it still a Cobalt. To make a Cobalt RWD us when I consider it not a Cobalt anymore just due to the insane amount of work needed to be done to the floorpan. Keep the original floorpan and I'll consider it a Cobalt.

Hoping theres minimal work required on the tunnel,

It could work with a straight axle rear end alot easier than what i'm doing. But because I have the ability and the know how im going the independet suspension route.

You understand my complaint about it not being a Cobalt if the floorpan is modified then. I just don't think the Delta platform is capable of supporting RWD without floorpan mods.

We will see, im planning on roll caging the car in the long run, but when I compare it to the GTO there are not a whole lot of differences in how the unibody is strengthened.

pictures added to the site, check it out!

I'm guessing you have quite a bit of experience to undertake this project. It probably isn't the most cost-effective route but who cares as long as you are happy with it. I love the idea personally!!! What's the plan with the wiring harness? Use the one out of the GTO or hybrid the two? At least you labeled everything on it! So I think at least

The original plan was to stick with the cobalt wiring harness and hybrid like you said, but after ripping the gto harness out and finding out that most of it is the same I think I will go with trying to do a complete harness swap and see if I can fit the GTO dash cluster in the Cobalt.. They are very similar in size, we shall see!

less negativity and more positivity. So if I run over a rock with my cobalt and **** up my whole floor pan, will it still be a cobalt? Come on guys let's show more support, it's a good concept and if it works out then good for OP. I'm excited to see the results on this and check the site every couple days.

I understand the concerns about the unibody holding up at a RWD. Especially with that beefy V8 powering it, but this is an excellent test of theory for sure. Always like a different idea.

Good thing GM made the two wiring harnesses similar enough, if you can carry over the GTO cluster that would be badass, Might as well do up the interior custom too
