Proper track launch
Proper track launch
This is my first car that is worth taking to the track, so I have little experience with launching.
When you guys are trying to launch hard, what do you do? Do you rev high, and spin out a bit, or do you try your hardest not to spin?
It seems that when I try to launch without spinning, I don't really get the most power, just because I am afraid of the spin. And then it seems to turn into wheel hop.
Oh, and also, I don't have LSD, if that effect your answers..

These cars are awful launching cars in comparison to many other sporty cars. Axles are not strong, wheelhop is fatal for these cars, and spinning tires gets you nowhere. Do not try to drop into gear with a high RPM launch as you will probably make your car cry. I'd feather it quickly but easily into gear and let loose in 2nd. FWD ftl at the track
but I still love the cars.

hold rpms around 1200-1500, when the light turns green KNOW where the sweet spot on the clutch is... get there and give it about 60% throttle till the clutch is all the way out. If you experience ANY wheel hop let off the throttle. 1 run is not worth a broken axel, trans case or the cost of the tow home.
DO NOT rev up high when you are launching. You can kiss your axles good bye if you do. Just launch as if you were taking off on the street but get into the throttle quicker. If you start to wheel hope clutch it and let off the throttle immediately. I can't stress that enough.
If you want to launch like a champ get some mounts to stop that wheel hop.

I bet if you practiced a little, you would get to know the 'sweet spot' on your car. Maybe try a launch at 1,200 and if you do good, go up a couple hundred RPMs next time, til you find the area you and the car are the best at. It might be different for everyone.
