A question about insurance

Can anyone tell me why the insurance rate on Cobalt's are so high? Does it have anything to do with how easily they are to break into, or do they crumple up like an accordian in an accident, or what?

And yes, I know there are several factors including the driver's age and the usage of the vehicle, so on and so forth.

depends which cobalt you're talking about. the super or turbo cobalt is a performance oriented car, and cobalts in general have a target market of teenagers and men in their early 20's. who has the highest level off accidents? teens and men in their early 20's. lots of old people buy base models because their cheap, but that's not who gm designed the car for.

2,000 is not that bad depending on your age and where you live. when i got my first cobalt, which was a base model, i was at around 5,000. now i pay about 1600 for my ss/sc.

i have an 05 sssc in troy michigan, as well as an 07 compass, both fully insured for 225 a month. Im 23, too. sounds like if you were paying 5000 a year you were getting raped in the corn hole.

yea, welcome to new jersey. a million dollar house in my area is less than 200,000 in other parts of the country and you get more land too. we get raped in the "corn hole" on pretty much everything here. even worse when you go a few minutes east to nyc.

**** Geico.

They look at your record for up to seven years depending on age.

Best way to get cheap insurance?

Change your provider every 3 years.

I am dead serious.

Hah,i have changed providers 3 times in a year now.I don't believe in loyalty to any company after my experiences so far.I am with state farm now,and i hope they mean all they have said to me so far.Maybe i don't have to play this game like the stock market anymore...it's ridiculous.

i don't think so. companies give you more and more discounts the longer you stay with them. you're probably seeing the rates get lower as you get older, because in the companies eyes the older you get the less risk you are.

If I was with Geico Kev, I would still be paying for tickets I got when I was 18.

Five years ago...yeah...... when I bought the black car, they wanted somehting like $486/month.

Most of the mega insurance companies undercut one another...say you have Geico now, call up Progressive and tell them that...I may switch to Allstate next...usually works for a few years, but car insurance companies are starting to look further and further back at records...and it sucks.

maybe. getting a little older, i don't have any of the stupid **** on my record anymore so for me it's worth it to just stay, because every 6 months when it comes time to renew my insurance goes down a good amount.

265 a month for full coverage on the car with gap insurance and basic liability on the beater.

3180...for 23 with two 'no point moving violations' in the past six months...not too shabby

i pay 143/month. and that will go down in about 2 weeks when i renew. which not only includes full coverage, it also includes full hospitilazation and medical bills. if i die, my gf gets money too. also, if i get into a car accident, and can't work, it will cover my bills untill i get back on my feet. if i got rid of that coverage, i would pay way less. but since i am technically an indepentant company, and don't have medical through my job, it's the best way to go for me. i've told everyone i know, if i get hurt somehow, put me in my car and put it into a tree only joking of course, but if i ever got hurt i would hope its in the car.
