Quick Question

OK so i have already used the search button and cannot find a how to on this so heres the question how do i remove the shifter knob on an aoutomatic i want to paint it but cant get it off plz help

lol I need the same answer! what are the odds...

I just got a new automatic shifter and need to take the old one off...without breaking anything

i got the stock one with the satin nickel plate on it. its like 100 bucks on crate engine depot. but i got mine new for 25 bucks from someone on the forum. gotta love good deals

It's actually a toughie to find on here.

Block the car, engage the emergency brake.

Put the car in neutral. It will not disengage in park

take the silver piece at the bottom and give it a twist and pull it down. That will reveal an alley key screw.

remove that screw and take off the knob.

Now as for removing the satin colored piece... well... I don't know. No one has yet figured that step out. If you want you could just tape it all off without removing it. If you figure out how to get the satin piece off... post pictures so we all know.
