really REALLY loud w/ AC on
so i never really noticed, but today i had my ac on, it was low - on like 2 i think. and i got out of my car to open the gate so i can park in my driveway.
as soon as i get out of the car, i hear the fan at like 900000 dBa. the fan was so loud with the ac on that it was all i heard, didnt hear the engine or anything. i was like wtf, kinda shocked cause i would imagine if people walk by my car at a red light theyre probably thinking "wtf this car sounds worse than my 88 honda accord, it might blow up. hunny watch out this cobalt is going to KABOOOOMMM". i turned the ac off to see if this was the cause, because without ac on i never heard this before (i dont use ac often, usually just windows down but today it was like 94*) for about a minute to 2 after i turned the fan off the fan stopped spinning and the car was normal again and all i could hear was the engine idle. with the ac on 1 or 2 i always hear a slight ticking inside the car too, but not on 3 or 4. never really bothered with it cause with any music on you cant hear it. i never noticed this ridiculous sound though until today when i walked in front of my car while the ac was on.
does anyone else have this?? go turn your ac on and stand outside your car, is your car loud as ****?? wtf is going on and how do i get rid of it

my solid mounts make my AC HORRIBLE. not loud, but vibrate, and make a HUGE driveablilty difference. The car bogs ALOT more going into 1st, quickly revs itself down inbetween shifts so the ride becomes more uncomfterble unless im shifting like im racing some1 from every red light. ***** rediculous. they need to go.

To the OP: Yeah, the factory cooling fans are loud as all get out. The twin fan setup doesn't seem as bad on the TC. The singles however... sound like a jet wanting to take off on high-speed.
And the chirping you're talking about is the busings in the blower motor. I've had that problem with all my Cobalts... replaced the blower motor several times and never was able to get rid of it.
You probably have a blower motor imbalance or a leaf stuck in there causing the vibration.
Also, running the A/C at the track is a bad idea.. The condensation from the evaporator core leaves a trail of water down the track.

i dont know what the deal is but its ******* 90* and humid as hell where i live in NC. Humidity is most of it. Pouring sweat just walking outside. And iv never been a big AC guy, but for some reason this year i could definitly use it. And its just so incredibly miserable to drive with it on. It makes driving not fun and a project. Pisses me off

Yeah, same thing here. Puts the rpm higher at idle and it messes with the shifting. I usually only use to to keep my coolant temp down though. Hot as **** here, but after ten years you get used to it.
