Redline vs SS

Sorry if this has already been talked about... but outside of the styling/interior, is there any big differences between the Redline and the SS Supercharged?

Is performance identical?

I have an 05 redline, and I work at a chevy dealer, so I have seen and driven the CSS. As far as I can tell, the CSS's clutch, stick and the motor mount are a little more refined and smoother than my redline, but not by much. As far as performance, they are identical. Hope this helps.

My friend sold his Redline last year to buy his 2003 Mach1.

I would say the Cobalt SS pulls a little harder and handles alot better.

Identical drivetrains.
Interior is so different you can tell at first glance.

the redlines guage cluster is in the center of the dash, which is really weird.

I have driven both and I couldn't tell a performance difference. It's mostly a design/look difference.

The two Redlines I have riden in did not feel as if they handled as good. Maybe it's the weight difference and F/R weight ratio.

I wouldn't call them Camaro and Firebird. Neither of those had 4 doors.

* Edit * Yep just test drove a 2004 Redline, doesn't handle as good and my SS/SC is definatly a little faster low and high.

I thought that the Cobalt got different gearing than the 04 RL. Originally, I was hearing that the RL was geared poorly as it's tranny was from a turbocharged Saab or something, but that the SS would get it's own gearing. Could be wrong, but that would account for a little performance difference if the RL's gearing wasn't specifically designed for its powerband and the SS's was.

Neither do the RL or SS. Unless you want to call those suicide doors extra doors and the RL a sedan.
