Remote Start - 5 Speed

How do remote start systems work for 5-speed Cobalts/Pursuits? I found several remote starters for manual transmissions, but am unsure as to how they work. Will the remote start actually work if the car is in gear?

There is suppose to be a sensor that makes sure the car is not in gear. Basically a safety switch.

Yeah. It's a ring of infrared LEDs. Pretty effective.

The remote start will not work if the car is left in gear. There is a sequence that you have to go through when you shut the car off so the remote start knows that it is left in neutral and not left in gear. The car will actually stay running for a short time after you turn the key off and get out and close the door.

Any aftermarket car audio and security store should be able to get one, if not have one in stock to put on your car.

That's the way mine works. I have a Compustar and I'm extremely happy with it.
