Remote starter on manual SS
Remote starts are very dangerous. All someone would have to do run themselves over with my compustar is:
Roll down window; put car in neutral; pull handbrake; release clutch; open and close Door without getting out of car; wait for car to shut off and lock; crawl out window; go stand in front of car and press remote start.
As you can see this could easily happen if one was not paying attention when getting out of the car.

I had one. Bad idea. Maybe if it had the safety switch to keep it from cranking in gear which mine didnt. Mechanic wrecked my front bumper. Still has to be fixed. I just had the whole system pulled off my car 2 days ago. It was bypassed so long I can't remember if it was supposed to crank in neutral without pressing clutch or not. For the record it doesn't

You can get it with a manual tranny

sooo... how do you wire the clutch bypass? Nobody has answered that one straight yet. And I hope Alerosaint will get back to me with the contact info for his installer, I might drive up north this Friday and have one installed there...
I PM'd you back. Its best to call and schedule and hopefully they have a friday sllot. Cause I made a wasted drive there when someone told me to just come in and the actual installer was like its best to to talk to an installer cause they are busy. Ill go get the info for you now
Found an installer in Wilsonville, Oregon Fry's Electronics. Their lead installer put it in, said it was one of the most difficult installs in years.. Clutch bypass setup was pretty tough to test and wire up, then there's GM key immobilizer that requires another relay setup. That's on top of the 5704 Clifford and DBALL2... And they threw in a T530 window control module for just a price of installing it ($80). So for me it was 699 for the alarm, DBALL2, relays and install.. All said and done, $779 out the door with parts and labor, lifetime warranty on labor through Fry's and lifetime warranty on parts through DEI.
The alarm is up and running. Remote start works well. There is a little glitch though..
When you set the manual remote sequence for the first time, it shuts off normally. Then, when you try to remote start for the first time after that, it seems to think it's getting hot wired or something and does a two second long annoying factory honk and the security light starts blinking but it starts normally. If I shut it off and remote start without getting into it, there is no more annoying two second "I'm getting broken into" honk, but the blinking light is still there. And it doesn't go away unless I shut it off and start it with the key.But then while starting it with the key takes away the blinking light, it also resets the factory security and now the first remote start is with the loud annoying factory horn honk... Either way, I talked to the lead installer that put it in and he is looking into it tomorrow at work. Hopefully he finds the solution. He sounds pretty confident and was able to wire up the clutch bypass and immobilizer key bypass (which could be a part of the issue). He should be able to get it resolved, hopefully tomorrow...

Glitch worked out. Car Toys spliced into the wrong wire by the ignition switch and the Fry's electronics installer hooked into it. That's what caused the horn and the light. Literally took him 15 minutes to fix the issue. Now it works flawless.
Been 7 months now since I've had my viper aftermarket alarm/remote starter. Been through some issues but much was to blame on the defected remoter starter module. Ever since it was replaced it's been working flawlessly. I will admit there are ups and downs with having an aftermarket remote starter but it's worth it, just my two cents
Make sure those guys are authorized dealer if you want any kind of warranty. They will need to do a two-relay with custom measured resistor setup for the clutch bypass and another setup just like that for the immobilizer bypass. All that info is available on DEI website, they should have a log in for that...
Yep. Warm when it's cool out or cool when it's hot out. I got my windows and the sunroof wired to it to crack either one or both, or roll them all the way down from my remote. And if I arm the car and forget to close either one - the alarm will do that for me.
nah, Caddy was leased and found someone who took it for me... thank GAWD!! but just poking around with the remote start, I WILL have it by next winter, weather I install it or not but I must have it. I'll be keeping this thread in mind when I actually get going with all this.
