RESALE on 2.2's

anyone else kinda upset that since gas went down now my 17,000$ cobalt pretty much is only worth about 12-13k now that is has 7000 miles on it.... thats friggin crazy... i duno bout you guys but im selling my balt to get a CTS........i LOVE my balt but my brother has an SS that I drive 50% of the time anyways so why wouldnt I want a CTS for work and then play in my bro's SS when I need some "cobalt" time. anyways i was trying to figure out what I was gunna ask for it... ima put it on ebay / CL/ paper

kbb only said 12-13k ....i paid 17k for it and its got 7k miles on it and its a 08 Lt1 with spoiler and 16 inch alum machined wheels(ion rims not steelies ) and sunroof and XM and REvolution package but no stripes just black , also a 5-speed . only things ive added are Injen CAI , 5% tint , and subs and speakers , 10inch kicker and 4 polk speakers.... WHAT PRICE SHOULD i ASK?

Why only 2.2's?

I'm not upset about low gas prices, I love it.

It will go back up anyhow

I'm going to mileage ***** my 2.4 to death.

Then pass it along to some unsuspecting individual.

sorry lol didnt meant to make you feel left out i just know SS's have better Resale just because they are more deisrable (to the right person) I work at chevrolet and I see a whole lotta SS's get sold and very few 2.2's except to the occasional really straight edge old lady or younger college chick.

Before you do something drastic, keep in mind that prominent people in Congress as well as State Legislatures in every state but AK are considering raising the gas task asap considering the recession due to falling tax revenues.

Simultaneously, Russia's recession makes ours look like nothing more than a minor annoyance because their economy is now based mostly on commodities- therefore they will cut oil flow in the very near future.

OPEC has announced that their previous slash in production does not appear to be enough despite recent gains in crude prices. Expect that they will cut again too.

The 'common belief' is that Congress will be aiming to force gas to between $3.00 and $3.75 by the 4th quarter of '09. They believe that's as high as they can push the balance between tax revenues and economic slow-downs. The sales-pitch is it's for the greening of the world and it has a lot of support in the mainstream press to artificially inflate gas prices (including popular car magazines).

Anyway, have fun with that. If you aren't paying over $3.00 again within 18 months, I'll be amazed.

actually I paid 13.5k for the car .... the idea was to get in on the 3000$ buyer cash rebate + employee discount and then drive the car for 20k and sell it for about what I paid , now I seem to doubt that , I seem to be dreaming about even getting 12k for it.....blegh

12k my ass.

First of I know you don't have an LS, but honestly it's worth about the same. I see LT cobalts going for under 10 all the time. And that's retail not trad-in/private sale. I would not pay more than about 8 for a base/LT cobalt. Hell you can find SS/TC for 19 and SS/SC for 12-13.

It's a rough market to buy and sell in. I doubt I'll ever get rid of my LS just for the fact that I can only get 4 or 5 out of it.

I wish you the best in luck, if you think you're going to get 12K for a LT with 7K on it.

It having a 5-speed will make the value go down even further.

Everyone puts way too much emotion into their resale value of their cars. Face it, the economy right now is in a deflationary cycle. Accept how much people are willing to pay for it. Even if you babied it and think of it as your baby, no one else does. People are looking for deals... GOOD deals, just like you would be in this market. No one will do you any favor no matter how much you paid and thought it would be worth. Value is it today.

Just take it to the dealer and tell them what you need out of it.

Can't kill to ask.

KBB.com says you might get 10.5 out of it.

I just wish I could have been smarter.... that sounds so dumb but I do I am still young and VERY impatient and I made a rash decision and am now kinda stuck with this cobalt , which I dont mind but at my other job its a total beeotch because I have to be in 5 oclock trafffic alot and I hate stopping and going in a 5 speed.....I love it on the days I have nothing to do and want to play with my car or have some sprited driving but I realized im not mario andretti and I can do that with an Auto , I guess becoming a dad just kinda made me lame , I allways wanted a 5 speed 4 banger that I could turbo or at least make into a fun car , hell I used to make fun of people who pimped their CTS/300c/charger now I see why everyone likes em , theres room for me my wife and our huge ass dog and my son all to fit VERY comfortably and on long drives it would be magnificent.

Yeah it's called maturity. No kids for me. Not for 5-10 years. Best to have fun while I have a chance.

yea man i know what your saying. back in feb of last year i got outta school at like 2pm and my grandma calls me and is like "lets go pick out you a new car" and without thinking about it and looking around at other places and doing research i ended up driving a car home that night... biggest mistake ever, will NEVER do it again. bout 2 days later i started to feel like **** bc i rushed it.. but i waited months and months and i was able to locate and trade for a 05 ss/sc for 11k, perfect condition. and now i love my car!
but i think you should be able to get around 9.5k for it, maybe lil more, just depends.
