I've had my rally yellow SS/SC since march...the 1st one in my area and have yet to see another one on the road yet(SS/SC)...The thing is though...just about everytime I get into my car and go anywhere I have this problem...Another car car usally pimped out or souped up or riced out...will pass me and either rev the engine up very high or just plain yell something to me that I can hear but not really make out due to the fact my stereo is up loud...in fact the one day somebody passed me in the faster lane and reved up as he went by me...and also thought he said something too out the window...I ended up catching up to him as he got the next red light and pulled right up beside him...I looked over at him and said...did you say something back there...he said yeah "light'em up"...I said yeah right...well you got my attention and here I am...he just shook his head and looked strait forward...didn't want any problems...it was quite obvious that he didnt say light em up when he passed me...he screamed something smart...but why even holler at a complete stranger if you cant back it up...I know he was trying to be a hard ass in front of his buddy as he passed me but I called his bluff and he didnt have anything to say to me when I was right beside him...by the way Im 30 years old and really dont need to be getting harrassed by teens just because of the car I drive...dont get me wrong some beep and give me thumbs up or even say nice car but the majority are young punks that are either looking for a race or just acting they're age...what really gets me the most is when Ill be going one direction and another car going the other direction and we pass and they rev it up just as we pass eachother...now what is that...I take that as an f u by the other guy...does anyone else get alot of this type of thing when they're out and about in they're SS/SC?

i get alot of people mean mugging because they have never seen one or they think it is tight
anytime anyone does something stupid or talk **** im quick to blow the tires off and smoke em

although maturity will take you farther, you got to earn some cobalt respect by showing what its got sometimes

 

I live in Mustang central USA. I final got tired of stock GT's thinking they were intimidating me. I wasted 3 in one weekend alone. A couple of other ricers have stepped up and were knock back down before they got out of 1st gear.

 

Not that I am old, but one thing in life is an absolute truth:

There is no substitute for age!

I never worry about what other people think, especially if they are not doing better than me!

 

Whenever I get somebody like that I give them the finger. Espically the ricers.

eclipsfloyd.... you need to calm down. just because somone revs when driving buy you thats not disrespect.. if you dont like it drive a station wagon or something..... if your diving a fast car thats going to happen..... people Rev on me all the time... and thay yell "nice car"..... i ignore them unless im in the mood to race.... but ilove the attenion

I'm 33 and got the same thing when the SRT-4 was brand new... Now that SRT-4's are more common place, it doesn't happen as much. Around here they'll do that to get you to "race."

Actually, taking the wing off the back stopped alot of it. Surprising how many people pass it and never give another look to the "stock" Neon next to them

It still does happen occasionally... just the other day I got revved on by a guy on a bike while I have my entire family in the car... [sarcasm]Yea, dude, I'm all about racing a bike that's at least 2 seconds faster than me and with my family in the car too...[/sarcasm]

 

Yea, I get ppl that give me crazy looks but I just speed up or something I get ppl that try to race me all the time but hey ppl will due to one it is a car that is not seen much and two the wing that will attract ricers seems like huge wings are ricers best friends LOL oh and APC stickers!

 

HEHEH FLASH! i actualy got a girl to stick half her body out the window and talk to me but all she said was that my tire was flat my friend was driving and went over a nail ann poor pirellies (the wing and the color (RED) attracts everyone ive been in more races with this car in one month then with my vette in 1 yr!)

 

I wish someone had told me my tire was flat. God only knows how long I drove on it before I changed lanes and noticed it felt weird. $300 to replace a tire with only 250 miles on it sucks.

 

revving isn't disrespect.. it is more of a puff up by the young punks, so they feel like a man when they see a car faster than theirs. When i drove my 80 capri RS, i would get that all the time. i just ingnored most of it.

i would take rev's as a compliment, it means they p|-|43r j00r 5p33d. hehe.

Again on the young punk thing... I know more old punks than I do young ones, usually becuase the old punks are mad becuase us "young punks" are doing better than them

there is no such thing as a yougn or old punk though just plain punk age doesnt matter

 

There's punks and there's people...the difference is attitude and the only people that rev on me are the punks...the regular people gimme thumbs up and say nice car or they have a conversation about my car with me.

i dont know about all of this jealousy talk. there are tons of cars that i rev on because i can smoke them, and i want them to know it. i guess im the 'punk' that pulls up beside all of tha oldschoolers around here

but really, its a Cobalt SS, so unless its a car you know is faster than yours, if they rev, they probably want to race, just to see what its all about. Unless you own a Cobalt, you probably don't know what they're about. No one seems to.

so I was passing someone in a 45 zone less than 7 days after buying my kick ass Cobalt SS, almost got taken out by a State Trooper, anyone from NY doesnt know how sneaky these guys are. Needless to say besides trying to dodge down a side road out in the country I finally saw he was gaining on my after not breaking much more than the minor speeding violation. I pulled off onto a side road and got the license and registration please b.s. followed by a , what is this! needless to say his envy gave in and he said it looks like fun to drive and slow down alittle buddy. speeding tickets escaped (1)

since then topped 120 on the NYS thruway in 4th. anyone else have some good top speeds before their heart was pounding and they hit some lap traffic!

not to sound like I do this all the time, but 130 after a Dodge SRX, SRT4 rip off, got right on my ass, so I gunned it. After I got out my foot had a nervous tich.

 

alright i mostly agree with this one... im 18 years old and i dont disrespect anyones car...

first of all ive never yelled to get anyones attention that might be disrespect.... couldnt telll ya though...

but when i rev my car up its for 1 of 2 things... either you have a nice car and i wanna race or 2 to get someones attention

seriously ive tried racing a pimped out crx.... he mightve thought i was a ***** but if u dont want that attention dont pimp out your car (especially with a neon green and black car with rims and a loud exaust)

but ive had people yell at me or rev up to me but i never felt disrespected

 

i had some older guy then me pull up next to me in his mustang gt...im sure it was stock and was reving his engine so i reved back light turned green we started to race and the poor bastard got scared or something and turn off at the next light...:-( HA mustang is fords car to compete with the vette...LOL!!!!!!! they wish
