revving without the pedal

i was just wondering if this is possible on the cobalt and if so how do you do it and does it matter if you're auto or manual?

my friend has done it before in his tiburon. like he did something in the engine compartment and revved it.

sorry if it's a dumb question i've just never heard of anyone doing it on their cobalt

Depends on the model, SS with DI don't thnk it can be done. But all it sounds to me is he pulled the throttle.

on the ss it can't be done. My friend can do it with his cobra, as well as my friend with a gtp. Wish we could

can't be done with drive by wire

you can put a goose button in. some race cars have it like the ones in the american lemans circuit for when they downshift

it revs the engine when downshifting to try and match the rpms so you dont get that jerk

ha! i was just looking for that earlier. my old Tracker (yeah i actually had one of those) had that, and while we were checking out a noise my friends car was making i did it to his kia too. I hadn't ever had to do it to mine, but when i looked i couldn't find the throttle anywhere on that engine, i figured there was just so much plastic covering everything it was hidden. good to know now it isn't actually there!

As others have said.

We have a Drive By Wire. Which replaced older technologies with the throttle cable.

With a throttle cable, you can turn it by hand, and the engine will rev. In our cars, this is impossible.

Is there any interest for a engine compartment mounted throttle control?

i would have to say, Obviously there is... there's a thread on it. and i have 4 cars in my driveway that have it, and since this civic is a 98, and therefore is probably not drive-by-wire, I figured it would have it.

The only time ive ever really used it on my 72 ss nova was when adjusting the timing , i can't really see any reason someone would want one on a cobalt. I never thought there was anything cool about it, it was more of a tool which isn't gunna do a thing for a cobalt.
