Road and Track 12 best for under 30k

Chevy Cobalt, civic si, golf gti, mustang gt, wrx sti, evo rs, nissan 350z,Mazda MX-5 Miata PHRT, Mazdaspeed 3, Pontiac Solstace GXP, Mini Cooper S JCW, Scion tC TRD

How can you even compare our car to some of these. The 350z takes the win though. Why do they always have terrible drivers though. Our car has surprising performance but the cheap interor does us in again.

Let's not and say we did. That's a horrible arguement. So what our car got beat. Do you like it? I know I do, I don't care what any magazine says.

Is the TC TRD a production car or a TC w/ Toyota's performance package on it? Sounds kind of like a Cobalt w/ the GMPP Stage 2 to me. I think it would be interesting to see how a S2 Cobalt would stack up in tests like these. I'm not complaining one bit about the article. I think it was well written and they gave our car an honest and on-the-money review. Isn't anyone else curious about where a Stage 2 would stand in these tests though? I could be wrong about the TC, but I really haven't looked into them at all because I could care less...

You cant say lets try stage 2 cuz then nissan and the evos will have to have there stage2. I do agree with the crap about the interior i dont think it should come into play in performace magz. because it has nothing to do with it

Would the Nissan and the EVO be in the price range with those upgrades installed?

EDIT: Once again, I'm not complaining about the tests. I'm saying I would love to see another test. They're comparing vehicles at a certain price range. If some of those vehicles could be upgraded to bring their price closer to the winning vehicles, how would they fair?

My favorite thing about 300zx's and 350z's is that you actually have better weight distribution, gas mileage, power, and handling AFTER you do your LS1 swap.

I just finished the article (what can I say, I am at work afterall). There is no reason the Mustang should have finished 3rd. The MazdaSpeed 3, Solstice GXP, and WRX are all better cars, and the Cobalt SS is at least on equal footing with it. I also agree about the upgrade packages. The upgraded the Mini with 7k worth of stuff but left some of the other cars bone stock, even at their 22k or so pricetags. That's simply stupid.

I think the difference is that you can go to Toyotas website or Scion and build an TC with the SC on it, you can't do that with the Cobalt and stage 2. Ok that was a horrible explanation. lol I guess I look at it this way. Stage 2 on a Cobalt is aftermarket, no matter how you look at it, it is. The SC on the TC is an option.

Also these tests are often done with whatever the car companies send them so maybe GM just didn't send them a stage 2 tester?

The average person won't crack 15.0 in a Cobalt SS/SC. Go look around in the drag racing section. I would say the 14.6 figure is much more accurate to real world numbers then the 14.3 figure.

As for the mustang, I don't know. I don't see many of them run stock.

I just wanted to point out that our interior is not that cheap. Why do American companies always get slammed on cheap interiors. While my car is in the shop, I'm driving a Lancer ES. The interior has a cool shape, but looking at the construction, I am baffled by how cheap it is compared to the Cobalt.

That was my rant. I'm all done now.

But everyone knows that appearance mods represent half of a car's horsepower—duh.

i concur. i'm not really impressed with the interior of a lot of econo cars. that's one of the reasons that they are affordable.

i don't think that the balt is bad, nor do i think it is the greatest thing in the world. it is what it is.

All interiors are basically the same in the middle is a radio with all of its controls below that is the airconditiong controls above all this is 2 air vents on the left steering wheel tack speedo another air vent to the right space for air bag and air vent wtf does this have to do with the cars performance!!!!

I'm just glad I'm not the only person to realize that my dash is not a performance part.

haha... it's not a ricer mod... i know i painted mine because the silver trim pieces flake off after a while, and it looks like ****... most people that do it, that i've seen at least, match it to the exterior, and you wouldn't know that it didn't come like that from the factory.
