rubberband mod
i was taking my headlights off my car earlier for a little project and as i was removing the passenger side light i saw this...
https://www.cobaltss.net/gallery/fil...rubberband.jpg looks and feels just like a rubberband thats just dangling there. can anyone tell if it's really supposed to be there and what it may go to, i didn't notice it the first few times i messed with my lights  |
you sure it's not the O-ring seal that goes on your headlights?
i honestly don't know what it could be, i don't know a whole lot about cars and my cobalt is the first car i've actually taken things apart on. i don't recall ever seeing this piece in there anywhere. i went out and took another picture to give a better idea as to where its located, sorry don't mind the dirty car...

 thats awesome
it is kinda funny but i still can't help but wonder where it came from
wow i opened this thread thinkin, what the hell is he modding with a rubber band??? but i see now lol, wow!
so u cant just take that outta there? |
I have the same thing, I was wondering what it was too, I just want to cut it out, but I'm not sure if it goes anywhere.
i was going to take it out but i wasn't sure if it was supposed to go to anything lol
Holy shit man, that popped off your blinker fluid cap!@#!@#! if you dont get that back on your Flux capacitor will blow up.
:nono: DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT REMOVE THE RUBBERBAND IT WILL CAUSE YOUR CAR TO EXPLODE! :nono:
if it's just hanging there you might as well take it off, as far as the looks- it's the same color as the O-ring that goes on the plastic piece that seals the back of the headlight, take the gray piece off ur headlight (the gray piece that twists) and check the inner lip of it and see if the O-ring is still there-
ignore the 2 posts above me... |
i installed rubberband mod myself after i read this, nohting happened, very dissapointed
I work for a dealership and I know where the rubber bands come from. When they build the car from the factory they tie all the wiring together before they drop the engine in the car so nothing gets in the way. Its normal and I see it on most every new car.
love the comments guys  i appreciate the helpful comments too, i went out and cut the thing off when i put my lights back in.
yup, its a rubberband, we find them all over the engine compartments of new chryslers, i dont know why, maybe parts are wrapped with them and they fall in?
I had one....hahahaha. Mine was hanging down dragging the ground. It's good for 8whp.

*runs to store and grabs big bag of rubber bands* |
^^
well you guys do know that the increased tension on the rubberband causes your hp to double.. so in my case... when my rubberband is at its fullest extension its 132 x1 = 132 but when its at its at its fullest compression its 132x 2= 264 + 75 = 339 WOOT
ok well i aint gonna bullshit then, im gonna run out and get me a few bungie cords for my car, then i will hook up a system where i can push a button and it will stretch the rubber band further givin me more hp on the fly, much like nitrous. man, i dunno if my tranny can hold all that power, better add some duct tape and jb weld to that...
sorry for the thread hijack! :p |
no problem
