rumors of Cobalts

Ive been reading alot about rumor of GM dropping the Cobalt
So would that make our SS\SC worth more in the future?????

And wonder if that the case would they be dropping the ION line up too??

GM i noticed like to drop cars (like the camaro and monte) then come back out with them later on again

Whats the forums opinions on this

I think the Cobalt has been a great seller for GM but GM does like to do things like this in the past

There are only two reasons I can think of them dropping the Cobalt, one is that it's not a World car (am I right on this? I'm pretty sure..), and the other is that they may try to emplace a budget crossover to compete with Dodge (even though they already kinda have this with the HHR.

It's a decent seller for them, and I don't think there's any doubt that ss and ss/sc's are hard to keep on the lot. If anything, I'd imagine they may phase back on the budget-lined Cobalts and keep the three SS models and likley the LTZ - that is unless they drop the ss/sc and begin offering a dealer installed sc or turbo for the 2.4.

I do definitely hope they don't drop it though. If they do there won't be a single new American subcompact sport coupe on the road, with the exception of the Mustang which is kinda its own thing.

You know I have yet to see a G5 on the road to be totally honest with you! I've seen them at the dealership and I was honeslty torn between a G5GT and an SS2.4, and of course them being virtually the same car made it impossibly hard.. but I ended up siding with the SS as in my opinion Pontiac styling tends to not age well.

doesn't mater that its not a WORLD car---GM makes lot of vehicles that are North American Specific. Engines are becoming a bit more common--the Ecotec for example.

Back the the 80's Ford touted the Escort as Wolrd car---it was too---in name only. Europe got the good one and we got junk.

GM even has differnt names for the same car that is sold in other countries---they aren't dropping them.

Whatever future direction the Cobalt goes, it is going to keep the name

Dude I totally agree with you, but who knows what goes through the heads of the guys that would drop the freaking Camaro and Firebird and wait until after Ford to re-introduce it in a retro style..

^^ And yeah, but i think people are probably just a bit bored and wanting to bullshit? I think the whole 'search' thing gets a bit overplayed at times.

i love the car. its so much fun to drive. for looks there is not really any BIG difforence from the cobalt. but the little things they did to it really made me want it. i liked the rims alot better. i liked the rear a little more and it came with a full lip on the back. and i like the pontiac grill. i have seen 1 other G5 on the road lol and it was just the SE one

I was just asking basicaly if it is dropped would this make our SS\SC more rare
Sorry if it a repost in anyway Red2.4

SS seem to be rare (old one that is)

I do think the new Camaro is going to be sweet
But i wonder if the Firebird is coming out too
Dont hear anything about the remake of it

It would be sweet if they came out with a Retro Firebird-Trans am like the bandit car
Or make a Yenko camaro but that wont happen because that a special deal like shelby

Yeah, I agree - i do like you rear bumper a lot more. I kinda like the rear bumper on the SS sedan, too, and I'm pretty sure they're all interchangeable.
I like the SS NA's bumper, but it doesn't look so great if it's even a bit dirty...

I read somewhere Saleen was making a Camaro - anybody else heard this?

And I agree - GM doesn't do enough of that, retro-styling to the nth degree stuff. Dodge made the superbee, both for the SRT and the Charger, and I know Ford has in the past re-introduced BOSS 'Stangs.

I mean, how could you re-introduce the GTO and NOT make a "Judge"

^^ Proabably because they didn't want something that would spank a G6 GTP for $8,000 less

Gm doesnt seem to keep up with the retro thing
I think the SSR killed the Camaro and IMO they are ugly
But they are fast i must say

It would be cool if Chevy came back out with a retro Nova not the Toyota crap they tried making that failed

I also heard something about that too on the Camaro as well but i think its a rumor at this time

But you never know , Shelby is working with ford again so it could happen

And true they should make a new JUDGE GTO but Gto arent even really GM car its a Holden with a Vette engine and they dont even look like a GTO of old

That's true - they should've had just a little bit of ********* and kept somewhat with the GTO concept.
A lot of GM vehicles tend to get washed out from concept to road, i mean look at the Cobalt wide-body concept, that's a whole different animal from what is in production.

And on the Nova, I can only wish. Hell, if they just started cranking up an old factory and reproducing late-70s SS Novas they wouldn't be able to make them fast enough.

Yeah they should definately make a Judge version so they can NOT sell those to but seriously those old judges were great machines.

They should just reproduce some old musle cars
sure they still have the molds if you want to say
Then GM would rule the world
Because IMO Chevy ruled the Muscle car error

Look at Dodge and that new challenger
Looks just like the old one exactly

Only problem with the current GTO is that it doesn't look nearly as bad ass as it is. For whatever reason they decided to get styling cues from a '95 Mustang V6.
