Shift Knob?
Shift Knob?
My stock shift knob is complete ****. I like it, but it's so worn that it just looks terrible. I would like to get a momo shift knob, specifically either the Gotham or Nero knob. But I'm unsure if it will fit on the stock shifter without having to grind anything.
Could anybody tell me if this would be a good idea, or maybe what size the rod is or something that might help me out? Also, how would it work if I wanted to keep the reverse lockout. I know they have a reverse lockout version of the momo shift knobs but I don't know if it would fit.
06 SS/SC if it matters.

the stock shifter unfortunately is not threaded on, but pressed on. so nothing else really works with it i think. never a bad time to get a short throw shifter
I replaced my stock one by a MOMO Gotham, thats what i'm rocking now, so yes it fits really easy with the screw to adjust it. The thing you'll have more work on is to remove the stock one from there lol.
Also, how exactly do momo shift knobs attach? Are they set screws, torx screw, or something else?
Thanks for the info. I'm gonna order mine tonight and go from there. I was just out cruising around town and my stock knob came off in my hand when I shifted to second. I had to pull over because I was laughing so hard xD
Lmao i had that happen in my jeep. I went to shift into 2nd and the top of the knob just came off and i was stunned until i realized i was still in first gear at redline
Hopefully somebody will see this bump and help.
I got a momo Nero knob and it fits great on my stock shifter, but whenever I tighten the set screw, the reverse lockout will be very difficult to lift and it won't spring back out. I'm totally baffled because the set screw doesn't come into contact with the reverse lockout lifter at all.

They only gave me two different lengths and both did the same thing, but I figured out what it is. The screw changes the angle of the knob when it's tightened just barely enough to be too tight up against the front of the lockout piece. So I guess I'll have to file the plastic to give it more room. Hopefully that will work

I have an 05 SS/SC and have a stock shift knob - that comes off on a daily basis when shifting. I think some part holding it on is broken so every time I put it back it typically stays for a day until it comes off again. I can live with it but I'd rather buy a replacement. Any idea where to get OEM manual shift knobs? Can't find any on ebay/CL.

My best advice is junk yard crawl. Ive found quiet a few pieces for cheap. Keep an eye out for guys upgrading to a short throw shifter. I got an ss shift knob, boot and the shifter rod off of a guy on here. I have a cobalt sport. so I had to cut and weld to make the rod work but I ended up with a shorter rod and more of a homemade short throw shifter.
