should i buy a ss/tc or wait for cruze ss?

i already own an 06 ss/sc, laser blue metallic, 11,000 miles, in pristine condition with g85, s2, cxr, cai, sts, 2.9, dp+b...but am thinking about getting a t/c (esp. after reading how folks are easily coaxing around 300hp out of it with a tune and minimal mods.

Question is should i wait for the 10 or 11 cruze ss, which motor trend implied a while back would be better than the balt and could have awd as well. any opinions?

i dont want an evo or any other rice trap, so GM is where im looking and i cant afford the camaro ss.

Cruze SS definitely not in '10. Not sure we have even heard anything about an SS version.

I highly doubt they will release a real preformance SS version in the first 2 year after launch, may be in the third year. They might release some "sporty" model to trick people to buy it then a real performance model a year later so the same people can buy it again.

Marketing is fun!

WHY would gm update the lnf motor in the solstice and not in the cobalt...dosent make sense. ive also heard rumors about the opel/vauxhall next gen [cruze] platform getting awd. I understand this is all speculative, but i dont want to buy a tc when 1 or 2 years later i could get awd with over 300hp from gm.

How long is a "long wait"?? I have 4 years left on my loan. I still LOVE my Cobalt now but, I think it's so cheaply put together; it'll be a POS when its 5 yrs old

Ditto. I've heard nothing about the Euro Cruze getting AWD nor about there being a performance model in the US.

i can not find the article about the awd, so until i do I will retract that statement. I honestly cant see how gm can offer 300hp without awd, or go rwd, which is even less likely. the other question is since gm wants cruze to be more upmarket...does that mean the ss will be a 27k car and get close to evo territory? more hp and awd dont come free.

Thats true. Also AWD just means more stuff to go wrong GM isn't god like in AWD systems anyway .... I heard the cruze was only going to have a 1.6 liter turbo and that will be your SS version .. A SUPER SLOW gas saving car.. GM isn't leaning toward performance after the stock market crash it is all about FUEL EFFICIENCY .. They are more worried about the retarded VOLT that goes like 30 miles on batteries . Talk about retarded. That will be an epic fail. If the oil trends continue I wouldn't expect the Cruze to be that cool of a car it will be an upscale 4 banger with a turbo to make it better then average. I would get a balt. Screw waiting for GM to decide what powerplants and options it will get.. God knows that could take YEARS .

SS/TC is the fastest FWD production car around the Ring... oh and it also gets good gas mileage.

Need I say more?

the saturn ion had a couple yeras with no SC...the ion was the launch platofrm for our cobalts now. so, no, the cobalt (platform) was not released with an SS model in its first year.

im leaning towards just getting the tc. as someone pointed out, gm is getting into the whole gas mileage thing. It is also rumored that the solstice gxp/sky are getting axed after this gen, so there could be less reason to keep the lnf around. no real cruze ss i think would be a major major mistake. Im not sure how the tc guys on this forum with tunes can keep traction.

Does the tc suffer from axle tramp like my sc?

No. they changed the mount set up so it doesnt destructively wheel hop.
