Should I Do It?
Should I Do It?
Hey guys, long time no see.
Anyway, I have the option to pay probably less than $5k for a 2007 Cobalt SS/NA 5 speed with 92k on it. It's completely stock everywhere, so more than likely not run as hard as some. What I'm trying to decide is if its worth it to get. I think it might be, provided it checks out mechanically and such. It's got typical stuff like fogged headlights and being a Florida car the plastic bumpers have faded slightly, but I should be able to get it for a really good price. Anyway, the real question, should I get it, how much would it be to turbo/supercharge it, which is better and why? I know it's really up to you, I prefer superchargers for the whine, but turbos of course provide more power. Power isn't everything to me though, so it's not chosen over ease of install and price. I think I've answered my question slightly, but I still want to hear what you guys think!

I know I could do that, however every LSJ I've looked at has been run into the ground pretty much. I looked at a 2007 with 47k and nearly everything inside was ripped or torn, it had a ridiculous exhaust and the dealer wanted $13k for it lol. I feel like this is the best route to go, considering supercharging is just a thought currently. But if its really only $1,200ish then I'd definitely do it.
If you're not worried about power than definitely go supercharged. Its cheaper, still has great power gains, and will have less upkeep than a turbo. Post pics if you get a chance. Bought my lsj from a local dealer that traded from Florida too. Clean car. Has a little bit of rail dust. Nothing a claybar wont take care of though. You'll definitely love it!
Hey supermanman
If you purchase the Cobalt you can send me the VIN and I can give you the build sheet so you can see all of the factory options the car came with. Just send me a private message.

Don't forget, if you buy a complete kit for 1200 you'll still need a few bolts, gauges, probably hear exchanger, wire harnesses if they aren't included, a clutch would be needed after a little while, a tune. You're looking at 2k. I paid 550 for my lsj take off kit and my build still cost me 1400
Remember guys, the supercharging is just an idea as of now. I'm going into college this month so I probably won't be in the most financially able state for a bit. This would probably be a next summer project if it does happen (and I do buy the car) $700-$800 sounds pretty sweet, and if the whole project could be done for like $1,200-$1,500 that would be awesome.
I'm going to check it out again tomorrow, I'll take some pics. Hopefully it's been detailed, the day I saw it they had just taken it in on trade. If they clean it up and it lasts 30 days, I can get it for $500 over what they gave for the trade. Based on the KBB for it, they're probably going to ask like $9,500 for it, but they only probably gave the person $4,500 for it max.
It's posted on their site now, with a picture of a red SS/SC in the description. It's a laser blue SS/NA lol. They want $10,210 for it. I hope they fixed the dent on the side for that price
If it sits on the lot for 30 days, it'll be mine. Jackie, I'll PM you the VIN now.

Pics as requested, it looks a hell of a lot better than it did when I was in person. One thing that I'm really curious about is the cloth seats... Shouldn't they be leather?

Pretty much the only things that scream wear are the steering wheel and the shift boot, pretty easy stuff to fix. Here's hoping it stays for the month!
