Should I trade up to an 08 ss/tc???
Just looking for some input before making my decision to go with the 08 ss/tc. I am currently driving an 09 LT/2 with the sport appearance package. Basically it looks like the ss/sc but slow. My current car was purchased new by me and currently has 62,XXX miles on it. Haven't had many problems since I have owned it. The only modification I have done thus far is Koni shocks and Eibach Sportline springs. Anyway, I have an opportunity to purchase an 08 ss/tc from my girlfriend's neighbor. It is also a 1 owner car. Where my indecision comes in to play is that the car has 89,XXX miles on it. The positive about that is this car is a daily driver for a 40 something year old woman and many of the miles are highway. I test drove the car last weekend, and it is great shape.
They are selling for $8k which seems to be a great price for a well maintained turbo with that many miles. Am I an idiot for hesitating on this? Any input is appreciated. The amount that I could get for my car will have an impact on my decision as well. Any thoughts/input is appreciated.
Thanks!
PS - I basically have until Saturday to decide because they are looking to get a new car then.

for 8k I would not think twice about buying it, get a carfax in it just to be safe, it will be worth your $25 bucks if it has been into something bad.
swap your konis to it and make 6k back on your Lt.

Well its just a married couple, no kids. They have already gotten the ignition switch replaced. They just want something bigger because their only other vehicle is a pickup. Either way works for me haha

Hell yes!!! get the T/C! you'll absolutely LOVE it! especially after driving an LT for so long Hell I went from a Cadillac ATS to my T/C and I sincerely LOVE this car, I mean yeah it's a bit more.. plastic than the caddy, but it's just such a damn riot to drive.
that 30K difference isn't a huge deal, these cars are made well and it's been DD'd by a mature person for it's life, just need to get the Coked vavles cleaned up and thats a bout it, I think a porous block would have shown it's face by now as well.
You're not an idiot, financial decisions are good to think about but I'd definitely hop on this, you have the opportunity to go from an LT to a T/C with minimal costs get on it like a fat kid on cake!

Well I think they already have their eyes set on the Kia Optima Turbo. They are going to the dealer on Saturday, so had to have my decision before then.
Thanks everyone for the input! I know its a great car, and as far as the plastic interior, my current car is exactly the same, so not really an issue to me.

If you have the money and it wont set you into poverty for a few months while you recoup you would be out of your mind to not take that, It wont trade in for any more than that so they think thats all its worth. half priced SS that a woman drove... You know her husband took it out and beat on it every once and a while but that is nothing compared to what most people do in their cars. Cars like that go for 11k+ all day long. you will make 6-7k back on the LT privately sold and keep the springs/shocks if possible off it for the SS.
You will regret this if you dont do it,

So I made the deal. Ended up having to go through a dealer because I let the seller know I wanted to buy a day late (Which he felt terrible, but it worked out) The dealer was cool about it too. Sold me the car for 8200 which I was surprised. It was def a weird situation since I was literally at the dealer to get the car when the sellers were also there. The only thing that sucked was that there were taxes put on the car as well which essentially made it a 9k car which I think is still a pretty good deal. I'm planning on picking it up this Saturday. I've attached pictures of my current car as well as the SS.

I'm quite excited. Although the fuel consumption will probably be pretty high for quite a while. But hey, gotta live while you are young, right? This will be my first time regularly driving a manual, so there will be some learning there, but I know enough that I shouldn't stall it too many times I am happy to finally have a car that will go somewhere when I press the gas pedal haha
