you shouldnt have that at all....a cold engine would reduce knock, as would cold air temps.

i'm using castrol full suntetic 5-30w my mechanic told me that it's my oil pump that i'm not getting it to the valves so thats why it knocks and pings

Sounds like your mechanic is bsing you.How many miles are on your car? Oil pump failure? WTF

Maybe your do for an oil change? 9k miles and engine tick at start up is not too good.
