Simple Exhaust Question

Hey guys,

Buying a few car things for my girls LS for Christmas. I can't seem to locate a straight answer through search, so I guess I'll just ask directly.

I want to do a weld-on universal muffler. An oval, super-turbo style. Nothing major. Not worried about performance (the only other performance mod will be an intake later), we just want it to sound a little different.

What size should I get as the inlet for it to directly weld-on? I saw a few different numbers for the stock piping size (1.5, 1.75), but someone said a 2.5 will weld-on. Any idea?

I just need a quick answer, nothing major. I'm trying to pick it up today..

Thanks!!

you can get pipe sizing adapters that will allow 2.5" to fit to your current exhaust system, 2.25" may be more proper for an LS, anything less than 2.25" isn't worth it. i'm not sure what will directly fit, but i would go up to 2.25" piping if it were me
