OK i have an auto 98 Z28, kinda getting tired of it, and have found this black SS S/c at my local chevy dealer, and i heard my friends saying its got stuff done to it, this and tht, but their not sure. I drove it last nite, and wow, i was impressed, and thts coming from an LS1. My question is, do u think it was modded, or how would i know? It only had about 12 psi boost, but what made me think that it was modded, was tht i seriously burned through second gear, and i rarely haven driven stick. I was kinda amazed by that. Or is that normal of even stock SS's. My friend at work said his only chirped 2nd, while this thing ripped through second shooting the Speedo to 60mph. Is this just normal expected power, or possible stage 2? BTW it had a K&N typhoon intake

 

See if the Bolt on the S/C pulley are blue. That is a dead give away for a pulley swap

 

stage 2 will have blue bolts holding the pulley onto the supercharger

 

You should hold on to the LS1 til mid 2008 LNF turbo SS!

 

stage to boost arount 15 psi but to tell if its stage 2 look at the pulley if it has allen screws holding the pulley on then its got a aftermarket pulley if its pressed on its stock.

it is not stage 2. Stage 2's redline is 7000 rpm. second gear will get you to just over 70 mph. Boost is up to 15psi. Blue bolts on the pulley.

 

I went from an 11 second Camaro S to the SS/SC. I actually like the SS/Sc a little more. It's way more driveable.

I've owned a 2000 Z28, 2004 GTO, and a 2000 SS. Of course, your friends might not understand your reasoning. I was tired of all the rattles of an F-body.

 

Where at in IL are you, and what dealership is the car at? If it is close to me I would be willing to check it out for you to see if it is modded and if everything is straight!
