Exclamation Solstice and Sky will get the 2.0L s/c LSJ!

That a Vauxhall version of the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky is in the works is nothing new. What is: We have confirmation of a supercharged high-output engine for the 2007 Vauxhall Lightning as well as Solstice and Sky.

Jon Lauckner, General Motors’ global product planning boss, says the Vauxhall two-seater will come to market with a 2.0-liter supercharged four-cylinder. The engine is expected to produce in excess of 200 hp and peak torque of 200 lb-ft, according to insiders. Look for the boosted engine in Solstice and Sky late next year.

Same engine as in the cobalt? That would be interesting. I wonder if those HP #'s will be at the Flywheel or Crank...

Guess there will be no 250 HP 2.2L or 2.4L Turbo going in that car like they were saying. That sucks. That is not much of a power upgrade over what it already has. Willing to bet it will be the exact same LSJ we get, rated a few ponies higher than the SS-SC's 205HP, maybe like 210 or something. Just like they did with the 2.4L in the car.

Guess this makes sense since the '07 HHR will also use the LSJ supercharged 2.0L. GM doesn't want to waste money to producing a Turbo ECOTEC engine specifically for the Solstice and Sky.

They should put in the new 5.3L V8 from the Impala SS and Grand Prix! That would be sweet!

Im glad it will have the LSJ.... More Cars W/ LSJ = More companies looking at and producing parts for it...

Although a turbo motor would have been pretty cool !

This is kind of dissapointing.. I'd hoped that the high powered Solstice/Sky would come with the Turbo 2.0L Ecotec they use in the Vauxhall Astra VXR. (240 hp)

Oh well.. Just have to buy a base model and do it all over again.

That article is incorrect . It was written using old information . Both GMI and camaroz28.com say the turbocharged 2.4 is still the actual engine .

Do you guys think the 2.0L S/C with a stage 2 upgrade and CAI could take that 2.4L turbo?

OKay I just woke up, so things are still fuzzy....but crank and fly wheel hp are the same.

Maybe you meant flywheel and rear wheel hp.

Magazines are sketchy for info. Motor Trend is usually wrong---while Car and Driver is better. Autoweek I really don't know.

The only reason I can see the 2.0L S/C in the Solstice is cost.....a Turbo version would cost more (just think of development costs) while the s/c version would keep the price low.
