Sorry guys
Sorry guys
So I loved the SS while I had it, have it, but my parents said I can buy my dream car this summer, so I will be upgrading to a 2006 Mitsubishi Evolution MR this July. Sorry
But I have a question, how much do you think I can get for my cobalt?
57700 miles
Red SS
SLP Exhaust
Intake
Interceptor
New Clutch and Tires
Clean and Reliable
Never Smoked In
Evo X Mod

parents said I can use the money I get for this SS + whatever I make from working this summer + they will contribute whatever I make from working x3 or x4, depends on how much I make
seems some people set their dreams within a realistic attainable perspective... not everyone wants to stay in a cobalt forever...
my dream car for the longest time was my evo, and now i have it... next up, a white 2 door E90 M3...
dont sip from the haterade glass... theres too many lips in it as is on css.nub

If you trade it in, 6500$ tops. And this if it's flawless. Selling it yourself, probably 8,000$. Anymore then that and you'll be waiting months, if not over a year to sell. And even then, the prices will continue to drop. But good luck. Must be nice to be spoiled and not have to pay for your own car.
Same, love the car, looked at buying a new X before buying the TC, but prices in
are ridiculous for the car imo. I've literally only ever seen 2, 1 driven by a guy about my age, the other by a woman in her mid 40s who doesn't hesitate to get on the gas and rip it around
. I'm considering it for my next car, we'll see what's available whenever I start visiting dealerships again

Congrats Mike - you will own a legend !
BUT - just don't challenge a Turbo SS at the track (see Quote) sorry.. gotta give props to my car
As far as how much you can get.. I just traded in my 2006 SS (2.4, auto, leather, premium sound) and the dealer gave me $7,500 - BUT - the car is like new in and out and had less miles racked up (just about 48K). The dealer has it listed at 13K..Certified/ year warranty. Depending on who looks at it.. they may get that price.. (high) but should get around 11 -12K. If I took the time to sell it on my own I figured around 10K.
The SS SC is a more sought after/ valuable car - however - the mods kill at the dealers because it's assumed (most cases correctly) that the car was beat on. That's like rolling the dice... it would depend on how bad they want to make a deal. 10K for my 2.4 would have been an excellent value for the buyer because of the condition. Selling it on your own.. Just to take a guess... I would say your car with more miles.. and even if it's condition was 80 % of mine - you should still get 10K.. maybe 11/ 12. Just gotta find the right buyer at the right time.

"Since the Autoblog Proving Grounds is still under construction (in my mind), we can't tell you what it's like to drive the Cobalt SS Turbo at 11/10ths. Fortunately, the latest issue of Car and Driver includes a massive comparison test called the Lightning Lap in which 22 cars ranging in price from the $22,995 Cobalt SS to the $282,306 Ferrari 430 Scuderia are raced around Virginia International Raceway. The list of cars slower than the Cobalt SS around VIR tells the whole story:
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO MR
Lexus IS-F
Audi S5
Honda S2000 CR
Dodge Challenger SRT-8
Lotus Elise SC
Subaru Impreza WRX STI
Dodge Caliber SRT-4
Volkswagen R32
Honda Civic Mugen Si(Click here for each car's actual lap time at CARandDRIVER.com, look for the "Results Chart" link in the lower-right corner.)
The Cobalt SS Turbo is clearly outgunned in the engine department by a few of these vehicles, besting only the Civic Mugen Si, R32, S2000 CR and the Elise SC with its 260-hp engine. But c'mon, is the Cobalt SS Turbo really quicker than the legendary Lancer, the 416-hp IS-F, and the 425-hp Challenger SRT-8 around VIR's 4.2-mile track? Apparently so says C&D, who were just as stunned as were by the Chevy's particular brand of canned whoopass. "

Just saw this - can be used as a reference.
It's a 2006 SS SC - stock - very low miles and $16,999. Certified with full year warranty. Price seems high - but - I've noticed SS SC hold on to their value pretty well.

Mnatvyc1223: i love how people dwell on stock performance numbers.
BUT.. I understand why some (lots on this site) put more horsepower... more power = more fun! And... if the mods are GM and don't kill the warranty then cool. If not GM authorized.. means you have lots more $$ than me in taking that chance with voiding warranty and pushing the car to or over it's limits... and.... if you plan on trading in to a dealer.. be prepared for disappointment.
With all of the different performance bits out there... you have no clue what the other car's have - unless told the truth at the track. So - you are right - anyone can win... BUT.. doesn't change the fact that stock vs. stock (and all of these cars are VERY IMPRESSIVE stock cars) - The Cobalt SS Turbo will beat the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO MR , Lexus IS-F, Lexus IS-F, Audi S5 , Honda S2000 CR , Dodge Challenger SRT-8 , Lotus Elise SC , Subaru Impreza WRX STI , Dodge Caliber SRT-4 , Volkswagen R32 & Honda Civic Mugen Si ... at the track... not too shabby brother!
jimbos'ss: that car will never sell at that price
